Piper Morgan To The Rescue Cover Reveal

We have another blogster bud that's got an upcoming release...Stephanie Faris.  If that's not exciting enough, animal rescue figures into her story.  You know we're going to love it!

Blurb:

Piper helps some four-legged friends find the perfect home in the third book of the brand-new Piper Morgan series.

Piper is super excited to help out at Bark Street, a local animal shelter in town. Who wouldn’t want to be surrounded by adorable puppies and dogs all day? And when Piper sees Taffy, the cutest dog she has ever seen, Piper is determined to find a way to bring Taffy home. But it won’t be easy—especially when she finds out someone else wants to make Taffy a part of their family, too!

Rescue Shelter Adoptions
In Piper Morgan to the Rescue, an eight-year-old girl gets to work at a rescue shelter, where she sees how many perfect little dogs and cats are available for adoption. It’s a children’s book, so I didn’t get into the heavy-duty details of why shelter adoption is so important. In fact, in Piper’s story, every pet she falls in love with gets adopted.

In reality, shelters are filled with animals that will never be adopted. This is especially true of the many older pets there, as well as the pets that have health problems. Most families look for puppies or, at the very least, dogs that aren’t older than one or two years old. Those willing to adopt an older pet would be giving a great life to a dog that would be put to sleep eventually. Even in a no-kill shelter, the dog won’t have the quality of life that comes with being in a happy home.

When people think of looking for a pet at a shelter, they imagine walking in and looking at pets in cages. In fact, you can actually look for the breed you want by searching Petfinder.com. You might have to travel a few hours away if you have an exact breed in mind, but you’ll see photos and get a description of the dog’s health, age, and temperament before making a final decision. Even if you buy from a breeder, you often have to travel to pick up the dog.

Best of all, buying from a shelter is often cheaper than buying from a breeder. If you buy from a breeder, you sometimes have to wait a couple of months for the dog to get old enough, since breeders usually sell their pets almost as soon as they’re born. With a pet rescue shelter, you can probably go pick your dog up today.

If you’re set on a specific breed, consider making Petfinder a part of your search. You may fall in love with one of the dogs you see at a shelter. At the very least, you’ll get a full view of all of the options you have instead of going directly to a breeder without knowing.

Bio:

Stephanie Faris knew she wanted to be an author from a very young age. In fact, her mother often told her to stop reading so much and go outside and play with the other kids. After graduating from Middle Tennessee State University with a Bachelor of Science in broadcast journalism, she somehow found herself working in information technology. But she never stopped writing.

Stephanie is the Simon & Schuster author of 30 Days of No Gossip and 25 Roses, as well as the upcoming Piper Morgan series. When she isn’t crafting fiction, she writes for a variety of online websites on the topics of business, technology, and her favorite subject of all—fashion. She lives in Nashville with her husband, a sales executive.
