Ketch-Up Day

Can you say Brrr? The cold weather is coming. I sincerely hope the pipes don't freeze.

I had a great birthday. Partied for two days. Heh. One of the buds hosted a brunch for me at his house. Oh my goodness. It was amazing.

The cookies were homemade, double or triple chocolate and made by one of the buds.

He served tomato bisque, mushroom and spinach quiche and the most amazing salad. Have you ever had watermelon radishes or roasted yellow beets? They were delish and so very pretty.

The next day, the 70s Club went out for lunch. We tried a new place. The food and service were great, along with the price:)

Then at home, I had strawberry cheese (birthday) cake waiting for me.  Very yummy.  If anyone out there is interested, this came from Publix.

Well, the birthday celebration is over but the leftovers and cake linger on:)

AND

Frank at the game table.

Both my grandson and SIL play chess. I'm so impressed. My grandson is only eleven. I've never played a game of chess in my life, but I can play a mean game of checkers.  Heh.

What's your pleasure? Do you play chess or checkers?

Stay warm. Stay safe, blogger buds.

It's Ketch-up Tuesday

Hope you had a great weekend and that your week is off to an excellent start.

For those of you who wonder and the many who don't (hehe), here's

A Day in the Life of Frank:

Keeping an eye on those dratted birds.

Making sure everything's okay in the house when he is on the porch.

Helping unload the groceries.

Helping fold the grocery bags.

Keeping an eye on the neighborhood.

Helping with the laundry.

Practicing his mountain climbing skills.

Taking his afternoon nap.

Spending time with his buddy.

Making sure no one is sneaking snacks.

Stopping to smell the flowers.

AND

All tuckered out as another righteous day comes to a close.

Ketch-Up Day

Is it better to be a PO'd cat or a peed on attendant?

OMG. Frank loathes going to the vet. Actually the word loath is too tepid. But he had to get his teeth cleaned so I packed him up and away he went. While there, I asked them to go ahead and groom him. After grooming, they turned the fan on him to dry him. He backed his hinnie to the fan, peed into it and sprayed them all.

 AND

The swallowtails are still flitting around.

Tuesday

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend and Monday. We got buckets of rain, but luckily no flooding so far.

Mr. Nosy sporting his spring do.  The HH says he looks like a French kitty:)
AND...
I couldn't decide on Bleeping Idiots or How I Solved My Problem for my subheading. Feel free to choose whichever you favor.
We got a new toilet paper holder, the open-ended that you can just slide the roll on and off the holder without taking it apart. We have one in the master bath and it's soooo much easier to use. This one wasn't a cheap one. The blankety-blank-blank-blank factory cut the blankety-blank thing too short so whenever you use it the roll goes flying off. Engineering trying to save money?  After I semi got over my mad, I decided that I could fix the problem. A friend gave me a synthetic gemstone one year for Christmas that I never got around to making into a piece of jewelry so I glued it to the end.  It did the trick.
AND speaking of bronze holders...A friend of a friend cleans homes for the upper-crust in the area and was cleaning the bronze holders with a cleaner that caused the plating to flake right off. Yikes! Can you imagine? The moral of this story: better stick with soap and water if you are cleaning bronze holders.

AND I got a couple of new plants. Delphinium and...drumroll...a little lilac bush. I'm so excited. I've been bemoaning not having one for years. I ordered the bush from Brighter Blooms. What I liked about this site: it popped up messages about whether the plant I was looking at would do well or poorly in my zone.
And here's Miss Faux. She's eighteen, blind and deaf but still getting around.
Got critters? Got flowers?

Franky and The Butterflies

Franky and I love butterflies. Unfortunately, for different reasons. While I enjoy their beauty and gracefulness, Franky considers them flying toys. The little White Cabbages have been a joy to watch this summer. They travel in packs, always chasing each other, and should be called flutterflies because they seldom stay in one place for more than a few seconds. Frank and I spotted one of the Cabbages, that had wandered off by itself, at the same time. He went into stealth mode and divebombed it. I divebombed Frank. Frank gave me the what-the-heck-are-you-doing look then decided we'd switched from a game of Catch to  a game of Tag and went scampering off. The butterfly fluttered away completely unaware or unconcerned that he'd nearly been 'it' in Frank's game of Catch Them If You Can.

Word of the day: Scamper
