Tuesday

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend and Monday. We got buckets of rain, but luckily no flooding so far.

Mr. Nosy sporting his spring do.  The HH says he looks like a French kitty:)
AND...
I couldn't decide on Bleeping Idiots or How I Solved My Problem for my subheading. Feel free to choose whichever you favor.
We got a new toilet paper holder, the open-ended that you can just slide the roll on and off the holder without taking it apart. We have one in the master bath and it's soooo much easier to use. This one wasn't a cheap one. The blankety-blank-blank-blank factory cut the blankety-blank thing too short so whenever you use it the roll goes flying off. Engineering trying to save money?  After I semi got over my mad, I decided that I could fix the problem. A friend gave me a synthetic gemstone one year for Christmas that I never got around to making into a piece of jewelry so I glued it to the end.  It did the trick.
AND speaking of bronze holders...A friend of a friend cleans homes for the upper-crust in the area and was cleaning the bronze holders with a cleaner that caused the plating to flake right off. Yikes! Can you imagine? The moral of this story: better stick with soap and water if you are cleaning bronze holders.

AND I got a couple of new plants. Delphinium and...drumroll...a little lilac bush. I'm so excited. I've been bemoaning not having one for years. I ordered the bush from Brighter Blooms. What I liked about this site: it popped up messages about whether the plant I was looking at would do well or poorly in my zone.
And here's Miss Faux. She's eighteen, blind and deaf but still getting around.
Got critters? Got flowers?

Now that is a bleeping/blinging clever solution to a frustrating problem.
Love your critters and your flowers. And yes we have fur and flowers here too (and sometimes they don't get along well).

Lilac. How lovely. I am pleased to see you have the toilet roll facing the correct way on your bejewelled holder. Go Miss Faux.

I hate it when items don't do the job they're supposed to. But your solution looks good.

Hi Sandra - no critters now ... but can see lots of flowers. Things that don't work irritate the hell out of me ... and like you I make a plan. Enjoy the growth that's ahead ... and of the fur too!! Take care - Hilary

Oh that is a house cleaning nightmare, your poor friend.

Heh. Thanks, Val.
Hugs received and returned.

I love sunflowers. My grandfather used to plant them when I was growing up. I can remember looking up, up, up at them. You'll have to show us pics.

Thank you:)
Our fur and flowers may be clashing too. Mr. and Mrs. Cardinal have built a new home in the butterfly bush. I hope they've taken out a large cat insurance policy.

The weather is pretty strange these days, isn't it, Yvonne?
Hope today is a comfortable one.
Stay safe. Stay healthy.

Thanks, Natalia:)
You stay safe and healthy too.

I love the kitty pics:) I have a toliet paper holder like yours, but chrome. I have that issue of it coming off too. Great idea to add the gem. I will have to try that. My daughter uses a clothes pin on hers lol. Lilacs are a favorite of mine. I have one the gives me blooms for two weeks a year. I go out and smell them daily. My grandma had a beautiful one that seemed to bloom forever.

I got a similar toilet roll when we remodeled the bathroom. I had the tile man install it vertically. I was tired of people not replacing empty rolls. With this set up,no excuses.

Awww, your peeping Tom and Miss Faux are adorable. Good luck with your new plants.

Just kinda makes ya shudder doesn't it.

Sandra Cox said...

Thanks, Denise.
Our other holder is perfect. The roll slides right on, but doesn't come off till you take it off. I assumed they were all made that way. Silly me. Funny about the clothes pin.
Lilacs are wondrous aren't they? When we lived in the Midwest, there were a couple of miniatures planted outside the bedroom window. When the window was open the breeze would blow in the most wonderful scent.

Thanks, Rue;)

The kitties thank the trouterz and dai$y. Especially, the Fabulous remark:)

The kitties and the plants thank you:)

It seems every time I use one of those toilet paper holders I pull off the roll. (When I first looked at the photo I thought you had it mounted on the ceiling. Which I thought odd. Guess I'm not tracking tonight!) Those two cats are both beautiful. I love it when you share their photos.

You really shaved your cat!

A friend has a TP holder like that and the TP falls off all the time. So when we redid our bathroom, I got a beautiful brass one that LOOKS like a normal holder, but the middle flips up. Easy to use and it stays on.

Looks like a sweet little kitty.

Sandra Cox said...

I don't understand why the manufacturers don't correct that. They could very easily. I'll never buy another one without checking out the height first.
I can see why you'd think it was on the ceiling from the angle of the photo.
The kitties thank you:)

Sandra Cox said...

They get their summer do every year. Otherwise their fur picks up every leaf in the backyard and knots up.
Glad you found a holder that works. You'll have to show that to us.

Sandra Cox said...

Thanks, Adam. She is:)

Your cat is so sweet and is so loved. Love your garden and I love the blue delphiniums. You found a great way to stop the tp from falling out.

Sandra Cox said...

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you:)
I love delphiniums too:)
