Have you seen this 1999 movie? I saw it for the first time a few nights ago and loved it. True human interest stories where someone rises from adversity to make good, always draws me in.
Jake Gyllenhaal plays Homer Hickam a young man who like the majority of his classmates is destined to work in the mines when he decides to shoot for the stars. This hour and forty-eight minute movie held my attention all the way through.

It was filmed near my husband's hometown, so he watches it every time it's on.
I have seen it. It's a very inspirational and uplifting film.
If you like that kind of movie, have you seen The Dish?
Yeah it was a good one indeed. Limited contact with many is the way to be haha
I remember that movie. Yup, was a good one.
October Sky is such a lovely movie that it led me to read two or three books by Homer Hickman.
Love,
Janie
Oops! It's Homer Hickam. The name didn't seem quite right to me, so I checked it out.
never seen that one
That's neat. It makes the movie more special when it's in your geographical vicinity.
Love the quote:) Yes I have seen this film and it is excellent! I love how he had to overcome the expectations of not only his dad but the town thinking the mine is all there is. Laura Dern was excellent as the teacher who had such an influence. I love Chris Cooper-under-rated actor
I haven't, Alex. I'll have to rent it.
It's sometimes helpful:)
Agreed. Hope you've had a good day, CJ.
Thanks, Janie. I changed it.
Its a good one. I think you'd enjoy it.
I like Chris Cooper too and yes Dern was amazing. Heading over to your place.
I don't think I've seen this one. Looks interesting.
