So the latest government guidelines are suggesting sugar should be limited to ten percent of our daily caloric intake--the equivalent of a soda--but it's probably okay to eat more eggs. Since I'm a vegetarian and always scrounging for protein, the egg thing sounds good to me. But cut my sugar to ten percent? Uh huh. Like that's going to happen.
What about you? Are you giving up your chocolate, ice cream, jams and jellies, and sauces or are you one of those disgusting, err, healthy people that don't care for sweets?

Time Warner had an outage in our area Sunday (NFL Playoffs). Needless to say the HH was not a happy camper.

I love healthy food, but I never eat sugar, that is, sugar as sugar on a spoon. I do love eating icecream, choccie, cakes etc, and I just tell myself there is no bad sugar in them....Hugs, Valerie
I'm also a vegetarian, but I don't do sugar almost at all, I will eat a biscuit or two maybe twice a week and that is it, a cup of tea with some sweetener and an apple do it for me in all other days :) I don't do eggs either, although I will put them to bind ingredients in some recipes, but that always never happens :)
I'm sooooo disgusting :)))
Add me to the list of vegetarians with a sweet tooth. Several sweet teeth.
I need to do better on the sugar front. And, since I am leaning more and more towards veganism the eggs issue doesn't matter.
Cheese is my sticking point. I love it, and could probably take the final step very easily, except for losing cheese.
We have purchased maybe three bags of sugar in the past fifteen years. So, safe to say, we don't do much sugar. No eggs though. Haven't purchased a carton of eggs in over twenty years.
I am on the seafood diet - I sees food, I eats it! and I don't care! we all gonna die sometime somehow...
Funny how they change their minds every ten seconds. Pffft no one fit diet for all. I haven't eaten sugar in years.
Everything in moderation
I can't say I don't eat sweets, but they are not my big temptation. Bread is. I like every kind of bread. I occasionally eat cake or pie or ice-cream, but this is mainly at holiday gatherings. The rest of the time, my idea of dessert is a good cookie.
No bad sugar...I like it! I don't like overly sweet items that taste really sugary but I do like my chocolate and ice cream. Have a good one, Valerie dear.
You are disgusting, Dez. Healthily so:) Must be why we love ya.
Cheese would be tough to give up. And it would be hard for me to give up milk. I used to feel I had no reason to go vegan, because I had no problem with 'working animals': chickens laying eggs, etc. But since discovering how horrific some farm animals are treated I can't say that any longer.
I'm a sweet tooth and drink heaps of drinks with added sugar...*shrugs*...I need it!
Wow. Sugar and eggs last me a good long time, but you've certainly beat my records;)
Ha! Seafood diet....I love it.
The government is always changing its mind about food. It gets a little ridiculous. If you eat a healthy, well-balanced diet and exercise, you should be fine. A little bit of sugar won't kill you.
Me? Yes, I like ice cream and chocolate. There's no way I'd give those up. But I also exercise and eat good food.
YupI. If its bad one year, it will probably be good the next.
Good for you on the sugar. I don't eat a bunch of sugar products, but I do need some sweet in my day.
Exactly:)
I'm a sucker for homemade cookies. And I'm with you on the bread. I know some people don't care for shopping at Walmart, and it can get pretty crazy, but they've got an Apple Fritter bread in their bakery that is really good. In fact, I think I'm going to go fix a piece for lunch:)
I weaned my self over to sweetener in my drinks years ago. But now they're saying sugar is better. It's a no win.
:)
I don't have a sugar weakness, but I couldn't live without chips. Sadly,. I don't think they're ever going to get a thumbs up on the nutrition pyramid :)
I love sweets...but I do try to limit it. However, if carbs count, I'm screwed! Most of my diet involves some sort of carb.
Hi Sherry,
So true. And they also seem to always change their mind on what causes cancer.
Good for you on exercising and eating good food.
Unfortunately, I seem to have fallen off the exercise wagon since the holidays began:(
I'm not giving up anything, especially HOPE.
Yvonne.
I need to stay away from sweets since I am hypoglycemic-actually sugar, starts and caffeine. Yes...I cheat-big time last month but I am trying to limit my cheat to once per month. I say eat anything you want, if you can health wise, as long as it is in moderation. I inherited my sweet tooth from my dad. I never listen to the food things people say. Eggs are bad...now eggs are good. Butter bad, eat margarine ...now butter good...me Jane and who will be my Tarzan? I'll take Johnny Weissmueller. Boy talk about veering off topic
Ha! Let's put it on the writer's nutrition pyramid.
I like my greens, but that aside, I'm a snackaholic. Right there with you on the carbs.
There ya go.
Yeah, whats good and bad is all over the charts.
Sorry to hear about the hypoglycemia. You do have to keep an eye on that. And when blood sugar drops you feel sooooo tired.
Hello Sandra. Thanks for the visit and comment :)
Sugar! Rarely have jams and sauces. Tea, artificial sweeteners. Coffee, not a lover of, so same.
Expect many things I have and use do contain sugar but I don't seem to think about it as I'm not a sweet tooth.
My team the panthers didn't play the other day. They didn't have to go through that wild card round.
I do love eggs and sugar. I think a lot of our food has hidden sugar in it, but I also enjoy chocolate, ice cream and other treats. Luckily I don't drink much soda. :)

Your teeth are healthier than mine. Mine are slightly addicted:)
PS. I enjoyed your post.
Are they still hanging tough?
I agree. I think there's natural sugars in almost everything. And good for you for not indulging frequently in sodas.
I passed out! That hasn't happened in years but I slur my words and look like I am doped up. I always have apples near me
