Can you believe it? The weather has finally decided it's winter. Before the weather turned there were Crab Apple Trees trying to blossom. Poor things.
How did you spend New Years? Ours was zany but fun. We did our weekly pilgrimage to Walmart for groceries, along with half the other people in town, and picked up games to play. We entertained ourselves with Yahtzee and a Memory Game with Disney characters for age 3 and up. Just let me say, we have no memory:) Have you ever played it? It has seventy-two cards that are laid face down and you have to match the figures. The person who ends up with the most cards win. We found ourselves picking up the same cards over and over again. Lots of head slap moments. After three rounds we decided to give our poor overworked brains a break and watch some mindless TV. The HH counted down the last eleven minutes, EVERY minute. At midnight we had our toast then I toddled off to bed. Oh yes, and I colored in my adult coloring book:) Beat that for wild and crazy. Yes, the chandeliers remained in tact.

New Years Eve? A book and bed. The New Year found its way in without me. My partner was away and I loved the down time.

We played games that night as well. And watched a really crappy Bowl game. It's tradition.
spouse and I had finger food and booze and naps before midnight. we had big band music on the radio. I spoke by telephone to several of my boyfriends. the ball dropped and we went to bed.
Don't remind me.

We ordered Chinese food. Then the 4 of us went separate ways. The girls went to their rooms to Skype and text friends. Himself and I went to our room to watch TV. He fell alseep at 10 pm with instructions to wake him before midnight. At 11:45 pm I woke him up. He opened a bottle of sparkling grape juice and poured glasses. We gave the girls a 2 min. warning. We gathered in our bedroom, watched the ball drop and the countdown. Toasted each other and then Himself and I went to bed. The girls usually stay up until quarter past stupid.

Happy New Year! That game you played must have been similar to Concentration, the television game show hosted by Hugh Downs. Yes? No?
Mrs. Shady and I spent the night at home and watched the ball drop in Times Square. Seconds later we heard popping sounds outside and went out to the deck where we were treated to a spectacular fireworks display a couple of miles away. It was a clear and balmy night and a happy and memorable experience.

DH and I have a New Year's Eve tradition of having a late night lobster tail dinner by candlelight then watching the ball drop together. After that we have our champagne toast and usually toddle (I like that word, LOL) off to bed around 12:30 or 1:00 AM

On New Years I went for a walk with a friend, we stopped in at McDonald's for breakfast. In the afternoon we did a family visit to my mother in law's to celebrate her Jan 4 birthday, all good.

Our cherry tree always blossoms in December too, instead of March, poor thing!
New Year's Day weather was abominable for us, so we enjoyed time at home with our cats. Happy 2016
DH and I watched old, and I do mean OLD, Bob Hope Christmas specials he did for all the troops during the 70s. Quiet evening, but enjoyable.

We stayed home for New Year's...best way to celebrate! In fact, I think we were in bed by 10:30. It's definitely cold here. I had to go get my car battery checked at Advance Auto Parts and I felt so bad when it failed the check and the woman had to go get another battery and install it in the cold. I wouldn't have felt as bad if it had been a man...that's weird, isn't it?! Equal rights and all.
My hubby and I actually went to his sister's and her spouse for New year's. We had a lovely dinner and played Cards Against Humanity-a very funny, very politically incorrect game. We watched the ball drop and then saw Fergie behaving like a 15 yr old idiot. You have to google it just to see how bad she was. I am glad you had a great time and , yes, I have played that game and felt old:)

I love the game of Memory. You can also play it on the computer, and you can start with twelve cards (and I can still get it wrong, haha!).
