IWSG Wednesday

http://www.insecurewriterssupportgroup.com/

It's the first Wednesday of the month and you know what that means. It's time to share  information, encourage others and express our doubts and concerns, and talk about our fears.
Let's face it. We're not in it for the money, even though that would be a huge bennie.  Inside most of us lurks the innate desires of a storyteller. Stephen King said it best: "Writing isn't about making money, getting famous, getting dates, getting laid, or making friends. In the end, it's about enriching the lives of those who will read your work, and enriching your own life as well." Writing is challenging. It's not an easy gig. But we do it because its right up there with eating and breathing. So when you have one of those days--and you know what I mean by 'those day's--just remember, you're not alone. You have a huge circle of writing friends that are right there with you, ready to pick you up and urge you on. So here's to new beginnings and a wonderful, productive year for all of us.
~*~
My project this month:
I am converting this:
Into this:
The book itself, other than some small nits will remain the same, but I wanted to put more emphasis on the gardening piece of it. What do you think? Like the cover? Pixelstudio at Fiverr did that for me. You're probably familiar with Fiverr, but if not you may want to go visit.  They have all kinds of options for writers at extremely reasonable prices.
As mentioned yesterday: Loves, Lattes and Mutants, and Queen of Diamonds are on sale for ninety-nine cents.
And last, but not least, I'm very pleased to mention that my short alternate/parallel universe story, Rainers, will be included in the IWSG Anthology. I've always wanted to do an alternate universe work of fiction and this gave me the perfect opportunity.  To the powers that be: a heartfelt thank you.
I've told you mine, not let's hear yours. What's going on in your writing world?

Huge congratulations on your story being included in the ISWG Anthology.
And a big thank you to all writers who definitely enrich this readers world.

King enriched somebody's life with his work? :) More like scared the crap out of their lives LOL And it's easy for him to say it ain't about money when he got millions
Lovely new cover, the old was one lovely too, I'd just change the letters and fonts

Great new cover indeed. True, it isn't about getting rich as the voices want to be heard. But isn't it always funny how the rich people always say it isn't about the money? Pffft lol

Congrats on the inclusion in the anthology! And I do like the second cover. It's very warm and inviting, which is what you want readers to feel when they look at your book :)

Heh, if I were writing for the money, I would've stopped ten years ago. Good thing I do it because I love it :)

Happy new year!
C.G.

Yes, there's comfort in the fact that we're all in this together!

I like the new design. Stopping by to say congrats on your story being chosen for the anthology!

You create beautiful art. One of which I plan on featuring on Wacky Wednesday:) Thanks for letting me:)

The second cover really does have a different feel. Nice. I'm stoked to be in the anthology with you. Here's to an epic writing year!

Sandra Cox said...

Thank you, EC. And what a lovely comment on writers.

Enrich. Scare. 6 of one. Half dozen of another. Ha!
That's true saying its not about the money when he's got millions, but he's been at the bottom. He was a true rags to riches story. From what I've read he was so poor that when the Carrie manuscript was accepted, they had to call the school he taught at because he couldn't afford a phone in his home.

Two more books - very cool!
It's not about getting laid? Don't tell my wife...

Sandra Cox said...

LOL. OMGosh, you are too funny.

The new cover looks beautiful (the old was pretty too though). I'm thrilled to be in the anthology as well. It's such a wonderful compliment and boost in (writing) confidence.

Sandra Cox said...

The voices want to be heard. I like that:)
I must admit, rich would be a huge bennie. grin.

Debra Renée Byrd said...

Cheers!

Congrats on making the anthology!

Sandra Cox said...

I hear you on the writing for money. Although, it would be a nice bennie. grin.
Thanks so much for stopping by and the congrats. It means a lot.

Sandra Cox said...

Indeed. And if and when you need it, remember that you're published with a big trad publishing house. You've done good:)

Cherie Reich said...

If I wrote just for money, then I would have quit a LONG time ago. LOL! What a pretty new cover! Congrats! We're anthology buddies now. :)

Congratulations. Celebrate your awesomeness, LOL.

Sandra Cox said...

Thank you so much and back at ya, Hart. I see I'm in good company.

The new cover is lovely, although I really like the rich colors in the old one. Colors just speak to me.
Writing? Not much at the moment - and that's an exaggeration. Nothing would be more accurate.

Sandra Cox said...

Me too. It's great to be among friends;) And yes, I trust this will be our best writing year ever.

Sandra Cox said...

Many congrats, Tamara. It'll be a lot of fun.

Your new cover looks terrific!

You have so many things going on! I really like the new cover with the soft pastels. And what a great inspiring post. I'm fighting a bad cold right now, so I'm having one of "those days" even though it has nothing to do with writing. Just makes me less productive. Hopefully, I can get back on track soon. Happy Wednesday!

Chrys Fey said...

No, I'm not in it for the money but it's easy for Stephen King to say that when he gets LOADS of money. haha

Your new cover is fantastic!

Happy 2016!!!

I love the new cover! Congratulations on your story being included in the IWSG anthology!

Liza said...

Wonderful quote from Stephen King...it's so right and true. I belong to a writer's group and last month a new person came and announced, basically, that he was in it for the money! To our credit, no one said "Good luck to you," and actually, his presence made me understand how much writing means to me, just the writing, the pure, raw, creativity of it, IS as important as breathing.

Now that aside, congratulations on making it into the anthology and best wishes for additional success.

Loni Townsend said...

I love the new cover! Grats on getting selected! That's great! I hope your success continues through this year.

Thanks, Sherry! How are you?

Sandra Cox said...

Poor buddy. I hate colds. Hope you're feeling much better soon.

Sandra Cox said...

You bet. But at least he started out like us. I love it when somebody who's really had to struggle makes good.
Thanks so much for stopping by, Chrys. Here's to 2016.

I hear ya. The ones I've gotten have been: I'm getting an agent for my next book. Or I'm not interested in publishing E, I'm only publishing traditional. And the statements are said so matter-of-factly.
Okay......

Sandra Cox said...

Thanks so much, Loni. I appreciate you taking the time to come by and give me well wishes.
