BAF

This is the first year I've had blooming hydrangeas. I had no idea how large the flowers are.  I've included a pic of my hand in front of the flower to show its size.
I'm also tossing in a pic of my hibiscus and the robin's nest near the back porch.

Yes, hydrangeas are large! I am happy because my plants from last year survived the winter and are just starting to bloom! Have a great week, hugs, Valerie

And what a spectacular colour your hydrangea is.
And yay for birds nests. And nestlings.

Hydrangeas are great flowers. I really like blue ones but the rest are ok too. I see you use the same file naming system as do when I opened the robin's nest photo. Add an 'a' to the end of the file name for an edited photo, then if there is another, add a b.

That's a big flower. Makes it easy to pick when you only need one.

There is an older variety of Hydrangea that has even larger blooms, but are white. I so enjoy my flowers and all the beauty they add around me.

Wow, such gorgeous flowers! It's amazing to see how big those hydrangeas blossomed...

I love hydrangeas. You can control the color of the flowers if you plant the bush outisde. Acidic soil = blue, less acidic = pink

Love your hydrangea - used to have some but now all gone.

My mother had several bushes that were huge.

Beautiful flowers - wouldn't have any idea what they were if you hadn't captioned them though. I went plant shopping with Hubby yesterday (we have pots to fill) - he liked the red ones and I liked the blue ones... That's as far as we got :-)

They sure get big, the cat would dance a jig and eat them lol

I am impressed. I tried to grow hydrangeas with no success at all. That is a beauty.

Ah the hydrangeas are wonderful. Love to bring in the flowers and put them in vases all over the house. I have iris in vases right now, sweetly scenting the room!

Beautiful! I would love to grow hydrangeas. Right now all I'm growing are sunflowers. I hope to grow other flowers in the future. Maybe next year. :)

Wow, what a gorgeous purple for that hydrangea. Ours come out pink and we add something to get some purple. I'd love to have blue ones as well. They aren't blooming yet, but we are pretty far north.

Thanks, Yvonne. Flowers really perk up a room don't they?

Sandra Cox said...

Thanks, EC. For some reason we've got them this year. Wrens, robins and nesting bluebirds. How are your gorgeous birds?

You have a beautiful pinkish purple colour to your hydrangea. If you added some acidic stuff you buy at the garden store you can get blue flowers. My hubby adds this along with coffee and the flowers range from blue to lilac to pink all on one bush. Very cute to see the birdy and glad the nest is in place.

Best filing system ever:)

Thanks. Me too, Heather. I can put my hands together and they are still larger than my hands.

Sandra Cox said...

That's what I've heard, CJ. The purple has now turned to blue so we must have acidic soil.

Sandra Cox said...

We'll have a brief moment of silence for your hydrangeas....

Sandra Cox said...

I'm sure they were gorgeous, Diane.

Gorgeous. Incontinent vandals and still gorgeous.

Good start:)

Sandra Cox said...

Heh heh. Luckily our crew hasn't tried that yet.

Hi Jo. I understand. I had no luck at all where I lived before. I think it depends a lot on soil, shade and sun.

I love Irises. I had lots of them before the move. I really miss them. I'm going to have to work on that this fall.

Thank you, Colette:)

I love sunflowers. They were my grandfather's favorite flower. I remember him and my grandmother working the garden. Those sunflowers were way taller than I was.

What a gorgeous color it is. I've never seen that color.

Hi Tamara,
Ours go from pink to purple to blue. I guess they can't make up their mind:)

Sandra Cox said...

Yeah, isn't that interesting about hydrangeas. We go in the opposite direction: pink, purple, then blue:)
We've got lots of baby birds right now. More information to come.

Correct. No rent payments. Grin.

Sandra Cox said...

Thank you. They have since gone to blue. They've went through a spectrum of colors:)

Hydrangeas are such a favorite for me! I have white ones that go green! I should love the blues!
