Project Complete

When we moved into our current home, there was an old rusty swing frame in the back which I was all for pitching, but the HH wanted to restore it and add a swing. Let me just say we should have looked into the cost of a new one versus  restoration.  Grin.
As of last week: project complete.
Okay, guys, how long do home projects take you?

That swing look good. I do like to get things done quickly, but when I moved in here 10 years back I didn't have a suitable lamp for the little hallway at the back, so I hung up a naked light-bulb on a wire, and it's still there.... Have a good week, hugs, Valerie

"...how long do home projects take you?" We bought an old farmhouse in 1980 and, so far, the restoration and expansion project has consumed 36 years. Your swing looks great!

Love your swing. Rather too much in our home (and in my head) is a work in progress.

A covered swing - nice!
I'm all for pitching and getting something new. Home restoration to me is repainting the walls.

Is that a rhetorical question, like put ff today what one can put off tomorrow? Love to sit on a swing and idle my day away.

I'm not much for home projects...I'd rather just pay someone to do it. My husband likes that stuff, though!

I want a swing like that in our back yard.

We redid our wood fence. It wasn't much fun, especially when I got poison ivy for my efforts.

I would say we don't do home projects, we hire people, but getting those people hired takes longer than it should!

Turned out nice indeed. But I'd rather toss and buy new, easier lol

Thanks, Yvonne:)

Kudos for taking care of things yourself, Val. Although, the ten years sounds somewhat like the HH's timeline. Heh heh.

I'm sure. Old farmhouses are a never ending project, but they sure can be fun.

Work in progress sums it up nicely, Sue;)

It would have been cheaper and easier:) But something about that frame appealed to the HH.

PS I hear ya on the painting:)

I took only 48 hours to finish restoring a table...that's 12 years in human terms:) It looks great...the swing by the way

Projects take a long time at the farm and love the color of the crape myrtle.

The swing looks fantastic! Home projects always take longer than expected. Sorry to hear you had to pay more to restore it. :(

Ha. Yup, pretty much.

Makes sense to me, Steph. Like Alex, my home projects usually revolve around painting.

Good job, and I expect it will last longer than a brand new one. Like many such projects, work out the time it will take and double it. Work the cost, and double it.

Come on over and use mine:)
Redoing a fence does not sound like fun. Ouch on the poison ivy.

Isn't that the truth!

You got that right, Pat;)

Actually, I think you are quite lucky to have completed this project. I suspect you even saved a bit of money, too. And now you have a swing where you and HH can sit and laugh over how long it took to get to this point.

I can only imagine.
Thanks for the crape myrtle comment. For some reason it was loaded this year with flowers.

Thanks, DMS. Live and learn:)

Projects are not completed if Willy Dunne Wooters is in charge. They get done slowly if I'm in charge. They're done in half an hour if my son is in charge.

Love,
Janie

Well, we are lucky to have completed the product, but after looking at prices for new swings.....didn't really save:) Though the materials were different, and I'm sure that factored in.

Sounds like your son is a dynamo, Janie:)

Oh, I'd love a swing like that! It's beautiful! And I love that you were able to restore it. I know the new swings have their charms and might even be less expensive given the materials you have to buy and the value of your time, but how much more meaningful this will be!

It looks fantastic Sandra! Beautiful! Enjoy!!! I don't know how long it takes me to do things. I know when I am gardening or even cutting the grass, my mom always says, what have you been doing out there! LOL! Gorgeous picture of your tree! ( I have been away, but I guess I missed a couple of your earlier posts! Sometimes I think blogger doesn't put them up all the time!)
