I stuck mine in the ground.
The HH gave me a dozen roses for Valentine's Day. I kept them in water for about a month or so trying to get them to root. When they didn't, I got impatient and stuck them in the ground. That was about two weeks ago. They're still alive. We'll see......
I also took some seeds from a bell pepper and potted them.
After they sprouted I put a few in the garden. Again, we'll see.....
Pretend you don't see the weeds;)

Weeds? What weeds.
Good luck.
I do hope you can get your roses to shoot.
I didn't see any weeds....good luck with them growing! Hugs, Valerie
I, like many people, respect wild life,
no matter what, and, l've always put
plants/flowers in there as well.
I 'do not' like seeing flowers being cut,
for any reason, and put into a silly container
of water, and placed on a window sill..! :(.
Horrid thing to do...Leave them, and let them
grow, naturally in the gardens/hedgerows...!
You 'cut' a flower...You 'cut' it's life in
half...!
Here's a quote from..Lessons Taught by Life...
"Every flower is a soul blossoming in nature,
please don't take their life by plucking them".
Good luck with the roses...! :).
Be interesting to see what happens to them, if they grow or they don't and when they, if they do flower what that flower will be like.
That's an easy one.....I didn't have any.lol
Yvonne.
I never would have thought of planting my cut flowers. My Mother's Day bouquet is still going strong, two weeks later :-)
I start my peppers and tomatoes from seed, but they are still indoors.I clipped some hyacinth and my living room smells so nice.
No I didn't see any weeds!
Good idea of yours ... keep us posted
All the best Jan
Didn't know you could root roses. Will be interesting to see if they take root. My cyclamen is still limping along, but it doesn't look good.
I saw somewhere to stick rose in a potato and plant.
Pepper plants make neat houseplants too, greenery in the winter with pretty little white blossoms and eventually peppers!
Good way to try and give them a go and the next year he can just pluck the flowers to give lol
I hope your bell peppers produce better than ours. Most of our peppers start to rot before they are ripe.
Can l just say...The reason for your problem is...
Either a lack of calcium in the soil, or periods of
drought followed by large amounts of water.....!
I hope so. We'll see....
Thanks for the selective vision, EC:)
Weeds are green plants too. :) I can't say as I've ever considered putting rose stems in the ground, but do let us know if that yields any good results.

Yay. More selective vision. Thanks!
Hugs back,
My 'green plants' are doing well:) Ha.
We'll see if the roses defy the odds.
You have a healthy outlook on flowers. I feel that way about Christmas trees.
I love flowers, but I do enjoy occasionally seeing them indoors, especially the ones that when you snip, they just grow a new bloom. When they do die, I put them back outside so they can return to nature.
Indeed, M-w. At this point, it's one day at a time for them:)
I get them once a year.
Excellent, Annalisa!
I bet your living room does smell good.
My little peppers that are outdoor are hanging on. I've never done pepper seeds before. I've got orange and red bell.
More selective vision:) I love it.
I'll keep y'all posted:)
Here's hoping the cyclamen gets a boost.
Do you use coffee grounds or Epsom salts on it?
The only one I got was a rose from the V-Day party we held at work. If I had known...
Ooh, I will try that next year....if I remember.
Heh heh. You're always thinking, Pat:)
Diane, Your peppers might not do that well, but your tomatoes more than make up for it.
Willie, I'll keep that in mind for mine.
Hope the party was fun.
I have never tried putting rose stems in the ground- but I can't wait to see how your experiment goes. I tend to plant everything I can and I usually get potted plants as gifts. I also get "cookie roses"- but those get eaten. :)

A green thumb you have!
Oh yeah, can't beat cookie and chocolate roses:)
Let's hope it doesn't turn brown:)
How smart you are Sandra!!! I hope that your roses and peppers all grow large and healthy!!!
Do you have a green thumb :)
I never get my wife flowers, she just lets them rot
Oh, to live in a climate where you could even try to do that! Bravo! I hope something good happens!
I got a hammer one year; already had 4; no we are no longer together, no I did not use it on him... though it was mighty tempting.... ☺☺♥♥
Would like to get some, I guess...but would be a little concern about who sent them! lol
Oh my gosh...I think you have a very green thumb. My thumb is so black that if I touch a flower it begins to wilt:) my hubby has forbade me from touching his plants
I admire your spirit!
Hi Jan,
My thumb is like the seasons. Sometimes it's green. Sometimes it's brown. Ha.
It's all about making her happy, Adam.
I grew up in the Midwest and I don't miss the cold weather a bit.
Ha. I bet it was.
Grin.
Ha! My green sometimes fades to brown:)
Smiling. Thanks, Colette.
Sandra, you are clever!!! I hope everything takes well!!
Just to let you know, I love weeds! They are nature's flowers! I very rarely weed! This year, maybe I will show my wild patch! LOL!
Happy Easter and Big Hugs!
