Monday-Tuesday

Greetings. How was your weekend and how is the beginnings of your week?
Have you noticed your groceries going up? We sure have. This apple rang up at $1.52. If I wore dentures, they would have dropped right out of my mouth

AND...
The day lilies are still blooming.

AND...

Thanks, Rye.

AND...
Stranger Than Fiction
I mentioned in a previous post that my daughter and SIL have bought their first house. It's over  a hundred years old.Why is this important? Because it means the house could have had many residents in its lifetime AND that it needs a lot of work. The floors and the staircase are rotten so the SIL has been tearing them out and replacing them. One day, he was working on the staircase and guard rail and removed a support-post. He noticed when he removed it that it rattled. Curious, he cut it open. Inside was a cigarette butt and knife wrapped in plastic. If the stairs hadn't been removed it would have never been found.
Feel free to write a story--no longer than a paragraph--in the comments section, on why you think the knife was hidden and what you think happened.

Poor Mama Cow. Having quads can't be fun for the moterh.
Love your blooms. An apple at that price? I would have to stop keeping the doctor away.
Interesting find in the support post. I wonder what he will discover next. And hope it isn't the person the knife was used on (for stealing that last cigarette no doubt).

That apple was very expensive, did it have golden pips? Wow, four babies all at once, glad they all survived. And what a strange find at your daughter's house....Hugs, Valerie

A knife? Whoa. Can't help but imagine horror story-worthy scenarios as the reasoning, haha.

Also, so shocked about the price of that apple. Haven't noticed prices going up like that in my area...yet. o_O

And ooh, those day lilies are so pretty!

Poor Mama indeed. Especially having the hoofed variety.
Yes, I'm afraid the doctor will have to stay away in future. Heh.
Stealing the last cig. Heh. Heh.

Golden pips. Heh.
Agreed on the babies and the find:)
Hugs received and returned.

Everything keeps going up and up. Hmmm that sounds like evidence for an old murder to me.

Sandra Cox said...

Yes:)
For us the prices have been gradual but we've definitely noticed an up tick.
The flowers thank you.

I can't imagine having quads either.

Yes and yes:)

Our apples aren't that expensive, it's just that they are so huge, they cost that much each.

A knife in plastic? Did they take it to the police? Be curious if someone was murdered in that house.

I'm sure because of the heavy rains and flooding in the midWest, crops didn't get planted on time so lots of groceries will be going up. the 4 baby cows are cute, but poor Mama.

The murderer had a leisurely smoke before stubbing out the butt, wrapping the knife in the plastic and hiding it in the newel post. What the heck he thought and tossed the cigarette butt in there, too. No evidence left behind.

That momma cow deserves a medal! The calves are so cute and glad they survived. Your Lillie’s are pretty which reminds me of a Katherine Hepburn quote from a play that bombed..”The Lillies are in bloom again.” We also own a home that was built in 1912 and it does need work but it is solid. Hmmmm....Walter butted out his cigarette and placed the knife in a bag behind the walls. Eunice will never be found not the evidence. That’ll teach her to buy such expensive apples.

We're voting against digging up the basement:)

Hi Sandra - poor Mama I bet she's feeling easier now. Birgit has given you a good storyline ... yes day to day budgeting is getting tighter.

Hidden in the newel we found the knife wrapped in plastic, as too a cigarette butt ... now both are with the police for forensic investigation ... perhaps this will give new light on the skeleton that previous owners had found in the house. We knew about this ... it was found over thirty years ago ... but are happy having decided to buy the house. An interesting addition to house's storyline ...

Now I need a fresh apple! and a cup of tea - cheers Hilary

sandra; oh yee of many published works; I see a new novel in the making in your future ~~~~~ a who done it perhaps; unless the object in question, was hidden by a vampire, who feared that the cigarette smoking individual the count just killed; was going to put the knife through his vampire heart ~~~~~~~~~~~ ask them if the house is exceptionally "cold" :)

A secreted and wrapped knife! Well that clearly says it was not a grandpa's apple peeling knife. What horrendous crime was committed with knife, perhaps inside the house?

Sandra Cox said...

Poor Mama, indeed.
I loved your story. 'Tossed the cigarette butt in there, too.' Heh.

Sandra Cox said...

OMG. We've got to be on the lookout for Eunice! Those damn apples:)

I hope apples here won't be that expensive. I don't think they were the last time I bought them- but I will pay close attention next time.

A cigarette but and wrapped knife. Definitely odd finds. I would love to hear more- and it sounds like a story in the making to me.

Excellent. You've earned your apple and cuppa:)

Sandra Cox said...

It sure is:)

Sandra Cox said...

You've presented a new twist to the story.Well, they do have a basement. If it's colder than it should be,we'll have to start looking for a coffin....

The young couple are going to have lots of fun and an interesting time renovating by the sounds of it. I wonder if the house comes under heritage listing...

Sandra Cox said...

'not a grandpa's apple peeling knife.' Heh.
Inside the house....perhaps.....

Sandra Cox said...

The wrapped knife is definitely story fodder, isn't it,Jess?
The apple was a Honey Crisp, they're more expensive, at least around here. I have no idea why.

Sandra Cox said...

Hmm, the heritage listing would be a place to gain data...

Cost of food is crazy anymore. We cook a lot at home, don't eat out often, so we really notice it.

100 year old home! Ours is now about 45 years old and it's developing a long list of stuff that needs to be done. Can't imagine what that list would look like at 100 years.

Adam said...

A 100+ year house probably has seen more horrors than we expect.

Apples are going up and so are bananas. Yikes. I've been dealing with pneumonia so I'd say it hasn't been the best week or so!

Birgit said...

I meant nor..not not😊. Poor Eunice

Sandra said...

Food cost is crazy.
Hopefully, you wont find any knives during your remodeling:)

Sandra said...

No doubt, Adam.

Sandra said...

The prices continue to climb don't they.
I am so sorry to hear you have pneumonia, Jeanie.
