More Irises
AND...
Do you ever make memory stones for your garden? I order name plates then glue them to bricks. Since I had the angel kitties I added them to the stones.

AND...
We scored toilet paper and hand sanitizer last week, but it involved getting up at five a.m.  Senior hour is from six to seven Tuesdays at Walmart this month. Given the hour we didn't expect many people to be there. Wrong. Let's just say there's no shortage of seniors in our area.

AND...
Every few weeks a bird flies through the cat door onto the porch. Most of the time we just prop open the door and within minutes they fly out. Friday not one but two came visiting. Luckily Frank and Penny (the dog) were in the house. Faux was on the porch but she's blind and lumbers around like an ancient elephant. Since she'll be nineteen on her next birthday I guess she's entitled. Come to think of it, I've never seen Faux chase a bird, but I'm off topic.
These two were definitely bird brains. They looked like titmice but I could be mistaken.  I don't know how many times they tried to fly through the screen, ignoring the door. Finally, they figured how to get out.  I went out a little later and the birds were all a twitter. The two escapees were probably busy sharing their harrowing tale and preening about how brave they were.

AND...
For the front liners, stay-at-homers, glove and mask wearers, here's a free read (in U.S. and U.K.)

Get it here.

Got Masks

Got masks? TP? Are your Irises blooming? Are there memory stones in your garden?

You are all looking good in your masks. Great idea with free read, thanks! Birds often fly in here, too, and it's hard to get them out again! Hugs, Valerie

Love those masks.
Irises are months away here - but I love yours.
No memory stones here. There are rather a lot of names carved in my heart though.

Aw, those memory stones are so sweet... <3

And congrats on finding some toilet paper and hand sanitizer! It still mind-boggles me how quickly those items sell out anymore...

You've had a rough few months which shows with these memory stones Beautiful and very clever idea. I have a friend who lives on a farm in western KS. There's lots of limestone out there. She found one similar to a large brick and scratched out the name of my first cat (DOG). She also had flowers and leaves on the stone. Limestone is very soft and you can etch in it if you have the right tools. I was so impressed. It sits on my front porch. LOVE what you did, though.

No iris yet, but soon, I'm sure. No need for TP. I still have plenty when I stocked up at Thanksgiving. I'm still making a mask.

LOVE your irises, and those masks are wonderful. The baby's is so clever and cute. Stay safe, dear Sandra.

Those birds sound rather off indeed lol

The memory stones are a nice idea. Great you scored some tp. Yeah, during senior hour there are plenty of seniors about.

The stones look very nice now.
My parents said to hell with getting up that early.
And now you know why they call them bird-brained.

I'm a sucker for anything purple, and love, love your lovely irises so much! What a fabulous and loving way to show tributes and love by having plates made and kept in the garden. I'm an early, early morning person, getting up usually by 4:30am, and I used to do grocery shopping between 6am - 7am, and I was pretty much done with errands by 10am, thus beating the crowd. Not the case these days, it seems. Glad you got all the stuff you needed despite the crowds. Yay to marvelous masks! Hugs and stay safe Super Sandra! RO

Masks for everyone

No irises yet (and oh, yours is so beautiful!), and alas, no memory stones, although I love that idea. Belle's is beautiful. But masks I have and use always!

The bird story -- wow. I'm glad they figured out how to make an exit before they got in any further! I'm told senior hour at the grocery here is more like a food fight! I'm still ok with toilet paper and sanitizer but I suspect I'll be in till the end of May and I don't think my last five rolls will last that long. I hope Rick has a few in his cupboard!

That is so sweet. We have special markers for all four of our cats. They say "Cats leave paw prints on our hearts."

Oh, I am so sorry that you lost 2 furbabes within a few months but I love these and I bet my hubby would want the. For our own furbabes that we have lost. Your irises are coming out and are pretty. I’m so glad you have masks including the baby. We wear ours when we are out. Stay safe!

Aww. They do indeed.

Love the irises.
Did you make the masks? My mom and I made some.
Such a nice way to remember your kitties.

Sandra Cox said...

Thanks, Jeanie:) Loved your Easter mask pic. Hope your TP and sanitizer hold.
Elbow bump.

Sandra Cox said...

Thanks and thanks.
Worse than herding cats aren't they. I just open the door and wait them out.

I'm sure you have a lot of heart tats, my friend.
I love Irises. My 4 seasons: Tulips, Irises, Day lilies, Mums:)

Sandra Cox said...

Thanks, Heather. They were made for sweet babies:)
Items selling out: Unbelievable isn't it?

Those darn birds. Great about the masks.

I made masks by folding (I don't sew) bandanas and using pot holder loops for the ears. (You have to double them as they are a little bigger and stretchier than the hair ties) Like TP, hair ties are out of stock. Still too early for the iris to bloom. Your memory stones are so pretty. Take care.

Score on the TP! We got more this weekend at the same awful hour, along with everyone else it seemed. Beautiful irises, mine are just starting to come up. What a wonderful tribute to your furry babies. I love your masks, I made mine last week. Have a wonderful day sending lots of hugs xo

The stone for Dog sounds absolutely beautiful. I love that idea.
Good on you for having enough TP.
Stay safe. Stay healthy.
Elbow bump.

Sandra Cox said...

Maybe the birds were too vain to wear their glasses and couldn't see the door. Ha.
Thanks and thanks.
We sure learned about senior hour:)
Stay safe. Stay healthy.

Sandra Cox said...

Thank you, Alex.
Your parents must have enough TP. That's the only thing that got us to set the alarm clock:) After seeing the shelves stocked we might try it again. Groan.
Heh. Indeed.

Sandra Cox said...

4:30? Reeling and clutching my heart:) If you have a place you can grow them, I'll give you some purple Irises if we ever hook up.
You stay safe to Rockin Ro:)

Thumbs up.

Thanks for stopping by, Luiz. Good luck with your blog.

Thank you, Birgit.
Good job on wearing masks.

Good job on making your masks.
No, I haven't made any. I don't sew any more. I ordered a couple from Etsy today. I wore a bandana when I went out.

Sandra Cox said...

Heh. Yes and yes.

Sandra Cox said...

I love that idea. You are so creative. I broke down and just ordered from Etsy:)

I thought of you and your HH as we were hauling our hinnies out of bed:)

PS Good job on making your masks. Feel free to share it with us or send it to me and I'll share it. Wink. Wink.

The memory stones are very nice. We have birds at times trapped in our multi level carpark. It is so hard to drive them down a number of levels then out the gate.

Irises are one of my favorite flowers, along with daffodils and lilacs. My husband and I have been working in the garden during this stay at home time -- mostly cleaning out weeds -- but I never thought of memory stones. What a great idea. Your masks look great.

When I was growing up in a farm area, there were irises everywhere in April and May. Most were gorgeous purple, we called them "flags".

Sandra said...

Good on you for helping out the birds, Andrew. Not everyone would bother.

Sandra said...

Irises are one of my favorites too. And lilacs. I miss the lilacs.
I'm STILL doing my first go round of weeds. By the time I get through it will be time to start again:)
Thanks and thanks.

Flags. I like that.

Love the memory stones. We do something more homemade. It's all heartfelt though, isn't it. :-)

I love your memory stones! That is priceless and so beautiful! Poor little birds! Actually, in our area, I think people realize now, they don't have to have so much toilet paper! Today when I went out, everything was stalked! I almost fainted! LOL! Big Hugs!
