My mother had a row of dead horse lilies (a smaller arum lily) and omg, the stench when they were flowering was unbelievable.

We have one in a greenhouse in our botanical gardens and it flowered a few years ago. The were queues of people to see it and smell such a bad smell.
I have heard that. And don't they only bloom once in many years? Maybe because of the smell thank Gawd for small favors. I've never seen one in person and have no desire. 😺 Take care.

Glad they helped you with your book. Yes, I have heard of this flower and there are big lines to see this flower that, I think takes 10 years to bloom and only blooms like one or twice. I think I will pass on the smelly flower. Thank goodness there is no perfume made with this plant.
