It's Tuesday

The Good

They had a poetry event in conjunction with the baby girl's showing and her dad was invited to receipt some of his poetry. So we went to Philadelphia for the weekend and he got to recite his poetry at her showing.

A couple of her paintings from the show.

Later we went to the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. They were quite beautiful. We saw quite a bit of wildlife: birds, geese, koi and a racoon.

The Sad

We put Faux Paw down last week. She was nineteen. Her heart was still strong and she was alert but everything else was shutting down. Her back legs no longer worked and she couldn't even drag herself around.  My fondest memory of her is when I was in rescue and adopters would come to the house. She'd sashay up to the car and escort them to the door.

This pic is back in the day when she was still a sweet young thing. She always reminded me of Pepe Le Pew's girlfriend.

And The Ugly

Hands down, New York traffic.

AND

I took my allergy tests and got high marks on almost everything. HaHa.  The only thing I tested for that I'm not allergic to is penicillin.  Yes, I am allergic to dogs and cats AND trees, grass, weeds, dust and mold.

Some good news and some very, very sad news. My heart aches with and for you.
I had an allergy test years back and the only common allergens I don't have problems with are cat and dog hair. I am sorry that you do.

I well recall going to Philadephia some years ago for a danny Boy concert. Wonderful place.
So sad you had to part with your cat, very upsetting for you I'm sure.
I've never had an allergy test.... perhaps I should.
Enjoy today and take care.
Yvonne.

Hi Sandra - what fun you had with your daughter ... she's a brilliant artist and how pleasurable to have her Dad there to read some of his poetry. Sounds a wonderful weekend - despite the challenges of life ... the Botanical Garden - always good to wander around in. New York traffic ... not fun these days. Sorry to read about Faux Paw ... nineteen years - a good life. Enjoy being home ... cheers Hilary

Thanks, Hils.
You can't beat Botanical Gardens can you?
Faux did have a good life. It just never seems easy at the end does it?
It is good to be home.
Cheers,

Thanks, Val. It is hard to watch them grow old or sicken.
Glad you like Ms. M's paintings. And yes, I win the allergy prize. Ha ha.
Hugs received and returned.

Congrats to Baby Girl and to The Poet. How exciting. So sad to her about Faux Pas. I love that name and yes, she does look like the poor dear that Pepe pestered. 😺 You chose a beautiful picture of her. She's shaped like a heart.

Oh man..I’m so sorry for your loss. She looks like such a sweetheart and seems, she was. She was loved and still is. She had a great life and, even though it is such a hard thing to do, you did the right thing. My heart goes out to you. I. So sorry too, that you are allergic to so much but, I think, everyone is allergic to molds and dust. I have been thinking to do an allergy test but with food. I had a salad yesterday, with some chicken on top, and it ...did not go well. Now...love the paintings done by your daughter, at first, I thought someone was looking at your daughter’s art work and then I realized the whole thing is painted. She has a real talent!

Sometimes the greatest gift you can give is a sweet goodbye, but oh, it is so very hard and you miss them so. Faux Paw (great name) was indeed beautiful.

Meghan's work is absolutely brilliant. It had to be a wonderfully proud moment for you all.

Oh Sandra, your daughter's paintings are so realistic, they look like photographs. They are beautiful. And it was definitely a family affair.

My heart goes out to you and Faux Paw. How incredibly sad. She was a beauty, and I KNOW you gave her a good home, so feel happy about that at least. However, I know you are still grieving. You can't have a family member that long and NOT grieve. Hugs to you, dear.

Glad your weekend turned out well, and your daughter's artwork is beautiful. I like the picture of the turtle too.

Sorry about the allergy tests too. I'm only allergic to a few things, but sensitive to most.

Congratulations to your husband and your daughter (interesting art! Very impressive!) and hugs for the kitty. I had to put my dog down last summer and it was awful.

Sandra Cox said...

It was. I kept hoping she'd go in her sleep but it's never that easy.
Thanks, Natalie.
Take special care.

Sandra Cox said...

It sure is, Alex. You don't want to take them before their time nor do you don't want them to suffer.
Thanks, it was nice to be together.

Sandra Cox said...

Yes and yes. Exciting and sad. You are right! I didn't notice the heart shape before. Thanks for pointing that out.
Hope you're having a great one.

Sandra Cox said...

Thank you. She did have a carefree life, though of course the aging process wasn't fun. But it is, what it is.
Getting a food allergy test sounds like a good idea.
Glad you like her work, Birgit. Her mom and dad sure think she's talented;)
Have a great one.

Thanks, Elizabeth. Good to see you out and about.
I remember when you had to put your dog down. Awful pretty much sums it up, doesn't it?

How very, very sad about Faux Paw...it breaks my heart. My two much-loved furry best mates, Remy and Shama will both turn 19 years this coming November. They're brother and sister and have been in my life, and I, in theirs since they were three days shy of being six weeks old.

I do feel for you, Sandra....special warm hugs and wishes I send to you.

Me da mucha pena lo de tu gatita. te mando un beso y cuidate mucho.

Sandra Cox said...

Thank you. I appreciate that. I was there the day Faux and her sibs were born, so I know what you mean. It would have been easier if her heart hadn't been so strong. I wish you many years ahead with Remy and Shama.
Hugs received and returned.
