Did you know, that the slave, Sally Hemings, that Thomas Jefferson purportedly had a long standing relationship and several children with, was his late wife's half-sister?
Yes, I knew. It was pretty common for men to have children with their slaves, and those slaves and the children were, of course, usually despised by their wives.
Oh man...I didn't know this. It has been verified as true that Jefferson fathered kids with Sally since the descendants finally won the right to be recognised. That she was a half sister to his wife...Man. It just shows how evil slavery was to have sired children but they were still considered slaves and treated as such...yuck.
