It's Tuesday

How was your 4th, folks?  We went to the fireworks. Before they started I took a sky shot. My camera really didn't catch the strips of pink in the gray clouds.

After it got dark it was time for the show. The fireworks were definitely better than my pictures of them.

Then out for ice cream. Even though it was Saturday and a holiday it was after ten and yes the ice cream store was closed. Sigh.  Sooo we went to the grocery store to buy ice cream.

Has anyone ever bought Halo Top? Let me just say I'm made my first and last foray in that direction. It's got the consistency of  blue cheese: very crumbly. I later found out its best to let it sit a bit before eating to improve the consistency. Oh well. I made a mess just trying to get it into a cone. After that disappointment I hauled myself off to bed to later be awakened by neighborhood fireworks. The critters weren't any happier than I was as they all vied to get under the desk. The only one unphased was the HH who has a hearing problem:) My son has mentioned on more than one occasion that being unable to hear well can sometimes be a blessing. (Speaking from the perspective of someone with three children, a cat and a dog:)

I'm pleased to announce we all survived the night:)

THEN Monday the twins spent a couple of hours with us, which was grand.

AND

We got some much needed rain last week.

 AND

More hydrangea pics.

Two bushes. Two different shades of blue.

What about you blogger buds? Was your weekend and Monday wondrous? Got hydrangeas?

I always eat ice-cream from a bowl - it saves any melting-over-fingers mess and stickiness. Halo Top is low calorie, isn't it, which would account for the consistency? I prefer to have a small amount of the real thing!

Glad you had a good weekend, the fireworks look fantastic!

I love ice cream but I'm not allowed to eat it just now. Glad you enjoyed the celebrations, although fireworks are hard for pets. Mine were always terrified. Have a great week, hugs, Valerie

Well, looks like you've had a solid 4th 😉

Btw, loving those blue flowers at the end 💙

Crumbly, blue cheese type ice cream? Yuck. I go for the carb smart Breyers every time. Always good.

No celebration here and hydrangeas look rather dead at the moment. It sounds like you had a reasonable time. I don't know Halo Top, but no doubt we will see it here if it is not here already and I don't know. Public fireworks perhaps get a tick but private fire works that scare cats and dogs, bad. Th softer blue hydrangea is very attractive.

Public fireworks yes. Private ones no.
Hooray for family time.
Chilly here, but Tuesday has been pretty good.

Fireworks are hard to photograph, but you did a great job. We like Halo Top. I haven't had issues with texture. For all ice cream or ice cream by products, I nuke the carton in the microwave for 20 sec. to make it easier to scoop. Love the dark blue hydrangeas. Mine just got some buds on it.

The best fireworks show we saw was in our own neighborhood. They must've spent a thousand dollars in SC for what we watched for two hours.

We saw fireworks in our neighborhood, but nothing to much. Pretty solid time!

Fireworks are hard to photograph without a tripod. I think you did an excellent job, Sandra. There were tons of fireworks in my neighborhood. I sat on my front porch and enjoyed the show. Bleubeard is always scared, but Squiggles, the guy who hides anytime anyone comes into the house, is unphased by them. Sorry your ice cream was a bust.

I've never owned hydrangeas, but yours are gorgeous. Glad you all survived the fireworks and the 4th!

That ice cream sounds like it’s from the health food section. I would stick with ice cream you know and love which is decadent and yummy. Alas, I can’t have any which is a bummer. I am sticking to my hypoglycaemic diet and weight watchers. Your pictures of fireworks turned out great! My shots never capture anything so good. I love your hydrangea and would love more blue since that is my favourite colour. Your garden plants are just lovely.

Hey Annalisa, I agree with less mess in a bowl. I normally use a bowl then crumble a cone on top. Heh. But just getting it out of the carton, it would crumble. It was so weird. Yeah, that may be why the consistency is non existent.
Thanks, hope your weekend was good.

Sandra Cox said...

We'll have a brief moment of silence for no ice cream.
Hugs received and returned.

Sandra Cox said...

I did. Hope you did as well.
Glad you like the flowers:)

Sandra Cox said...

Indeed!
I normally get peanut butter and chocolate Breyers. Yum. The store was out and I got what I thought was the closest. My bad:)

Sandra Cox said...

They are so loud and they continue to shoot them off after midnight. I worry about fires too.
Thank you. The baby girl got me that hydrangea.
Have a great one.

Sandra Cox said...

Agreed on the fireworks.
Glad Tuesday has been pretty good.
Hugs

Oh thank you:)
I hadn't thought about nuking the carton. If you are just using a couple of scoops, does it refreeze okay ?
I'll be waiting anxiously to see your hydrangeas:)

I didn't have much luck in capturing the fireworks on my phone this year but they were spectacular and went on for 40 minutes! We watched off the road at the bottom of the hill. I make my own ice cream now with almond milk, but do miss the diary and chocolate of days past. Nothing like ice cream on the 4th of July:) We have hydrangeas, they do well even if the heat makes them wilt, which it had been too much lately. They are very hardy. We got three rain drops here, which was very exciting!

You've visited my blog so you know we had a noisy weekend. I would think a lot of people wanted ice cream that night. The store probably missed out on some good business. When you want to go out for ice cream, then that's what you want--not something you can buy at the grocery store.

Love,
Janie

On my bucket list is to live where I can sit on the back porch and watch the fireworks over the water:)

Sandra Cox said...

I'm glad it worked out and that you enjoyed them, Aishu:)

Sandra Cox said...

I would love to be able to sit on the porch and watch fireworks:)
My critters were with Bleubeard:)AND with Squiggles. They hide when we have company too.
Thanks for your kind comment on my photography:)
YOU take special care.

Sandra Cox said...

You'd think so wouldn't ya? It was sitting right next to the Ben and Jerry's. Shaking my head.
You can't eat ice cream either? We'll have another brief moment of silence.
Thanks for your kind words.
Hope your day is filled with energy, joy and that you're free of pain.

I'm super lucky because I just have to open the bedroom blinds, and there are those fireworks 🎆! But the loudness is definitely a problem for the furry ones, and I feel bad for them. Halo is supposed be healthy, so I stay away from that😂 🤗 RO

Sandra Cox said...

Glad you enjoyed the fireworks.
Glad your hydrangeas are hardy and bring pleasure.
Oh gosh. Sounds like I need to start doing the rain dance again.

Glorious skies and hydrangeas. I've had Halo Top -- not quite so bad an experience as yours but I wouldn't get it again. If you're going to go the "healthy" lower-cal route, probably a good frozen yogurt or sherbet will serve the purpose and taste a lot better!

So happy you had a great 4th of July! I love your pictures! Well done! I have never heard of Halo Top???? We got a MAJOR rain storm today! The water was flowing everywhere! Gorgeous flower pictures! Big Hugs!
