It's Tuesday

How are you, Blogger Buds?

I for one am glad the full moon has waned. Last week was crazy. Someone got shot at the Walmart we shop at. I'm very pleased to say we weren't there at the time.  Cattle were ambling down the main street of town. And a car down the street caught fire.

Callie

So,

We were on our way to see the Grands over the weekend when we saw the Great, no make that Great-Great or Great-Great-Great Pumpkin. It was tied under a tarp in the back of a pickup and took up the whole bed. Biggest darn pumpkin I've ever seen. Wish I'd taken a picture instead of gawked.

Saturday we went to an open market that sold every kind of pumpkin imaginable, except the Great Pumpkin, flowers and preserves. I picked up two that caught my fancy and a red coneflower. I've been lusting for one since I saw them this summer at one of the local gardens we visited  when we went to see our daughter and SIL. It looks pretty puny compared to the established plants but it will catch up.

AND

We went to visit a friend's property last week. It was like visiting a National Park. So serene and pretty. The water rippled as it flowed in the creek adding to the sense of peace.

AND

We are seeing cotton fields pop up. We haven't seen them in years. We are wondering if it's possibly crop rotation? Anybody know?

Got pumpkins? Coneflowers? Creeks? Serenity? Know anything about cotton fields?

Sadly I have to say no to all of your questions today.
Love the beauty of your friend's property. I could feel my shoulders relax looking at the photos on screen.

I have one ugly pumpkin for Halloween, my coneflowers stopped reseeding, and I live too far north to know about news on cotton fields. I DO know your friend has some wonderful nature inspired land and I'm sure it was an enjoyable visit.

That is quite a pose by Callie. We've all seen a big pumpkin. It's better that you just enjoyed the moment. It sounds like a very nice and relaxing visit to your friend's property. I do seem to recall that cotton needs to be picked before those cotton balls get rotten.

Callie and her centerfold pose! 🎃 But I love the face paw or is that I want to be alone? And are those Merino wool shoes you're wearing? I have three pair. The comfiest shoes I have ever worn. Your friend's property looks like a wonderful spot to get away from the full moon crazies.

Wouldn't that be cool to have a stream flowing through your property?
So, cows roaming Main Street isn't normal?

Hi Sandra - well you certainly had lots going on ... great to see the family, while pumpkins are becoming more popular here. It'd be lovely to have a large garden with a rivulet or stream running through ... Callie looks well looked after!. Cows roaming around ... I wonder if the cotton is being planted, because other supplies were from Afghanistan or similar countries ... cheers Hilary

She was sleeping like that. It was so funny:)
I've never had Merino wools. I bet they would be comfortable. These are just Dr. Scholl's.
Yes, a good spot to get away from the full moon:)

Beautiful photos, Sandra :) I can relate with kitties cuddling up. We have our tiny pumpkins, but not sure if we'll get a big one this year. I did a kid's magazine article on giant pumpkins years ago, so got to see a few in person. It amazes me they are over 1000 pounds...Love that flower too! Water always makes things more peaceful in nature doesnt' it? xo

A thousand pounds. Isn't that something. I can believe it. We figured they must have used a crane to get it into the truck.
You're right. The ebb and flow of water is so relaxing. I'd love to be beside a creek bank or the ocean about now:)

I love the idea of cattle wandering down the street. Harks back to the 1860's, don't you think?

My neighborhood also had a shooting last week at a gas station very close to my house. Helicopters flew over quite low for a long time. I don't know if the shooter was ever found. It's upsetting.

Love,
Janie

It sure is, Janie.

When I was growing up, we had a Creek runnng behind our home. It would dry up often in the dead of summer but it was so nice to walk by it. We had 10 1/2 acres and it was lovely. I didn’t buy any pumpkins and I will just make a ham this weekend..nothing fancy. I love your pussy cat..has so much character.

YIKES! You are really having a life these days! Lots of stuff -- see what happens when I miss a few days? Love your cat! The property and pumpkins look loads of fun, but be careful out there at WalMart -- glad you weren't there at the time.
