Ketch-Up Tuesday

 Greetings Blogger Buds,

How was your weekend and Monday?

Below are the last pictures of our visit to Washington D.C.

Here's the White House:

And the National Mall:

The Vietnam Memorial Wall:

This was very poignant for me. Growing up, I went to school, church and ran around with Danny Kick.Even square danced in his basement. I don't think he was much over twenty-one, if that, when he died.I'm so sorry Danny was on that wall and so relieved I didn't know anyone else.

Thank you, Danny, for your service and your many kindnesses.  Wishing you peace and happiness.

Our trip home was wall to wall cars most of the way.

AND that's the end of the D.C. trip. On totally different topics:

Has anyone ever seen one of these before or know what it is?

A cicada shed on our screen.

AND

Silly Frank.

I leave you with roses.

AND last but not least:

Got flowers? Strange insects? Do anything fun over the weekend? Thanks so much for stopping by.

I do enjoy your very varied posts. Thank you.
War claims far too many young lives doesn't it?

Glad you had a great trip. And now, I have no idea what that bug is, but I'd be backing away slowly rather than taking pictures of it. I am bug adverse!

Hi Sandra - so sad to see such a young friend memorialised on that wall - way too many die in times of war ... all wars ...

The queue getting home at least is moving ... and that's the trouble with freeways - too much usage! Cheers so pleased you had a good time - those roses look so welcoming ... Hilary

Glad you enjoyed your trip to Washington, but it must have been sad to see your friend's name on the memorial wall. So many young men died, so sad. Got neither flowers nor strange insects here! Hugs, Valerie

Glad you had a great trip. My husband, daughter, and I went there once and had a great time.

Very sad. My father fought in the war but I don't personally know anyone who died. Unfortunately, he knew quite a few.
Driving anywhere near DC is just pure hell.

I reconise the pics of Washington DC, went there some years back...... it was on Memorial Day, the presence of the past was most evident.

Take care Sandra,
Yvonne.

Looks like you had nice weather for your DC trip. Poignant to see your friend, Danny's name on the Wall. May his memory be a blessing. 💙 Frank and your roses.

What a great bunch of beetles. My son is an entomologist, he identified one in our very expensive hotel room.

That was an impressive trip. The Vietnam memorial makes me cry.

EC, It does indeed.
Annalisa, I hear ya. I feel that way about snakes.
Way too many, Hils. Glad you like the roses:)
Donna, Glad your hubby made it back. Blessings on all our armed force members.
Alex, I'm glad you haven't lost anyone to war and sorry your father has.
Yvonne, It's an amazing place, isn't it?
Thank you, CJ:)
Susan, I'm sure you would have appreciated the identification not be in your hotel room:P)

Actually, I'm the one playing catch up. It seems like it's been forever since I was here.

I loved Washington DC. I love that everything (except parking) is free. I've not seen the Vietnam Memorial, but I didn't know anyone who served. I think your tribute to Danny was heartfelt and caring, dear Sandra. Happy birthday to your brother, too.

I've never been to D.C. -- your photos make me want to see it firsthand.

A belated Happy Birthday to your bro and I know it’s special considering what he went through. Before I forget I did post about your book on Monday. I hope it is to your liking. I was in Washington DC during a school trip back 8n 1982 when the memorial was being “introduced” me and one other kid wanted to stay while the rest wanted to go shopping. I was so pissed off about that because this was an amazing moment in history, you got some great pics and love your fuzz ball chilling out.

Loved all the pics. I can't imagine seeing the wall and finding a name of someone you knew growing up. Happy birthday to your brother. Hugs xo

Denise, It is a different experience for sure. Luckily, the area is serene and peaceful, but still very sad.

When I lived on the East Coast, I loved visiting Washington. The museums were amazing. And the Vietnam Memorial is such a sobering place. It left me speechless. Thank you for remembering your friend, Daniel. What a tragedy. Hugs.
