Ketch-Up Day

Greetings Blogger  Buds,

How was your weekend and Monday?  We went to see the grands and catch the girlie's basketball game.  She made four baskets.  Woot. Woot.

AND the HH surprised me with this  early Valentine:

AND a couple of my fam got me an Amazon card for my bday and this is one of the things I got with it. Isn't it a hoot and so very true;)

Writer's Block: When your imaginary friends won't talk to you.

Even though I know our temps would be considered a heat wave to other parts of the country, it was sooo cold this weekend . What was your temperature?

I realize the economy is strong and a lot of folks are getting good jobs and that's a wonderful thing. But it just hasn't trickled down to the grocery stores yet. I swear the items we purchased had jumped another dollar to three dollars from last month. What are grocery prices like in your neck of the woods?

AND the daffies are still blooming. Who'd a thought?

So Blogger Buds, how were your temperatures? How are your grocery prices? Got any good news to share?

Love that mug - and your daffodils too. Our temperatures are all over the shop. We had snow forecast for two days recently despite it being summer. It didn't happen. The next day our temperatures jumped 10c/50f. Bleah.

Hi Sandra - lovely present from HH ... fun to see. The mug too - great quote on it. Glad you got to see the girlie score her baskets (not to say I understand!!). Life is challenging for many, muddling for us lot - and then dreadful for others ... but Spring is nearly here and it'll be lovely to see the greening of the trees, but I shall definitely enjoy the bulbs for now. Our weather is tolerable for this time of year ... Cheers Hilary

Temps here...Finally...were 70 yesterday. Felt SO wonderful! Todays high will be 69 but rainy. That's okay though...just as long as there's no freezing temps!
Grocery prices are ridiculous here! If something cost $5 last week, it's now $8.
No good news here...except I got to wake up this morning...lolol
hugs
Donna

Froze here last night.

Sadly, economy is still struggling. Did you see Duke Energy has set in place a plan to raise their prices by 17% over the next 3 years? So much for electric cars being cheaper.

Last weekend was brutally cold here negative 27 degrees. I do not want to see the heating bill Yikes...This morning a balmy 12 with a wind chill factor that makes it about 2 degrees.

I was in Richmond in December and went to the Poe Museum which I found fascinating. One of the black cats were outside in the garden. It came right up to me. Strange happening. I bought myself a mug...it has one of my favorite sayings ~ "All that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream ~ Edgar Allan Poe.

Your mug made me smile....our imaginary friends have a big impact on our lives.

Glad you had a good weekend. It's been super cold here but is creeping into the 40s. Can't wait for it to warm up enough for spring flowers to bloom.

Nice gifts!
Cold and expensive here.

I loved your early valentine gift! And yes, we were very cold (sub zero at night and with wind chill in the day) but it's warming up now -- 40s. Our snow is melting.

Our gas prices are down, food? Oddly, I did a price comparison of what I paid for groceries in 2021 vs. 2022 and -- if I did the math right and I want to check it again -- it was only about a difference of $584 over the year, which I think i nothing. But somehow, that doesn't "feel" right. Which is why I need to check the math. Because I know some things are move -- eggs XL were 3.79 yesterday (3.59 for L) and butter was more. Yet I'm getting good prices on fresh salmon and shrimp. I've yet to figure it out.

That mug is hilarious. Temperatures have been pretty pleasant in Northeast Florida. Many afternoons I'm able to leave the backdoor open for Franklin & Penelope to run in and out. It's chilly at night, though, and overall, it's been an unusually cold winter for us. Prices are not great. A lot of people complain about not being able to buy eggs. Good news: I got a promotion and a raise, which helps me at the grocery store, but I'd still like to see prices come down.

Love,
Janie

Our temperatures this weekend were 🥶. We have warmed up, but not enough for the daffs to bloom. You got two great prezzies. Your mug made me laugh. Enjoy your day.

Nice gifts for Valentine's!

Woo woot for the baskets!

Our local economy hasn't been notified that it's strong either. We're breaking records on first-time requests for assistance from working class folks. The increase in prices isn't keeping up with incomes, unfortunately. So, it's not just you! Even for myself, we're eating a lot of bean and potato soups.

EC, Snow threats in summer. Mother Nature is sooo confused. Know I'm thinking of you. Hugs

Hils, Well said on challenging, muddling and dreadful. Cheers
Adam, Innit the truth.
Donna, Waking up is a very good thing;)
Diane, 17 % increase. Good grief. I'm pro green, but I am leery of relying strictly on electricity. Until there's a better source of energy, I'd probably go for a hybrid.
True, -27? Good gracious. Where are you located? Yay on getting to see the Poe museum. We'd love to see it.

Natalie, 40s seems like a heat wave, dunnit?
Jeanie, -40 is just sick and wrong. Interesting on your groceries. If they've held that constant you've been very lucky. Ours have gone through the roof since then.
Janie, Yay on the promotion and raise.
CJ, I shouldn't have complained about our weather. It would have probably been like a spring day to you:)
Christine, They were a nice surprise:)
Elizabeth, The woots are appreciated AND I've got homemade bean soup in the freezer so I'm right there with ya;)

The mug is funny.
It is an unseasonably cool summer here, and I don't mind one bit.

Andrew, I second cool summers;)

I love the tea towels..so sweet. The mug is perfect! Very funny and how they found this mug...sometimes one finds the perfect gift.
On Friday it was a high of -22c it was very cold and it xarried through to Saturday but by Sunday we were at 5c. My joints are taking a beating.
Don't get me started on the gauging of the groceries. I would picket In Ottawa if I had the time. The one store had lettuce where they took off the first 2 leaves so it was small a d wilting. They wanted $7 for that! This is Canadian prices!! Everything has gone up so much that my grocery bill has almost doubled. The Loblaws company and others had the audacity to come out and say they made the biggest profit last year. I wanted to take that lettuce and shove it up those execs butts!

What a fabulous mug. LOVE it and the towel, too. Grocery prices rose since the last time I bought groceries about two weeks ago. I keep hoping prices will fall because I am eating less heakthy as a result.

LOVE the daffs. It's still cold here, so not sure they are ready to bloom in my area. Sounds like you had a great weekend, dear Sandra.

Sandra Cox said...

Birgit, $7 for lettuce???? That's insane. And it's outrageous the big boys at the top are making money on it.
Elizabeth, Unfortunately, it takes money to eat healthy, which is so very sad.
Hope there's warm weather coming your way, dear Elizabeth.
