IWSG Wednesday

The first Wednesday of every month is officially IWSG day. IWSG was formed by Ninja Captain Alex Cavanaugh. Members post about their doubts and fears, discuss struggles and triumphs, and offer words of encouragement to others who are struggling.

Twitter handle: @TheIWSG

Hashtag: #IWSG

The awesome co-hosts for the March 6 posting of the IWSG are Kristina Kelly, Miffie Seideman, Jean Davis, and Liza @ Middle Passages!

Every month, we announce a question that members can answer in their IWSG post. These questions may prompt you to share advice, insight, a personal experience or story. Include your answer to the question in your IWSG post or let it inspire your post if you are struggling with something to say.

Remember, the question is optional

March 6th question: Have you "played" with AI to write those nasty synopses, or do you refuse to go that route? How do you feel about AI's impact on creative writing?

Good question.  I’ve used AI for guest posts but I haven’t tried a synopsis. In fact, I’m not sure how to even approach that. It seems like by the time you’d given it the information, you would have written it yourself. I’m anxious to hear from folks that have used it for a synopsis and how it worked out. I feel like AI is here to stay so we might as well take advantage of it. On the other hand I hope it doesn’t put us out of business.

For those pitching: #IWSGPit March 27th.

AND: Saturday, April 13, 2024:
Beyond the Pen all-day workshop at Brier Creek Community Center, Morrisville NC

Someone else said the same thing - after all that work, might as well write it yourself.
Big congratulations to Diane!

I don't think I'll ever play with AI to write. (Unless spell check counts!)

Kind of chuckled at your statement--hope AI doesn't put us out of business...I'm sure many are nervous about that!! Congrats to Diane and Jacqui. Every month we become aware of the many IWSG members pounding out books. Love it!!

As usual, we are perfectly aligned with our thinking on AI. And your book choices (almost all of them). Have a great rest of the month!

I have not used AI to do any writing. I do have friends that have used it for a lot of things- and a lot of kids I know have used it for homework.

Great reviews, Sandra. I loved Gwen's and Jacquie's stories too. The new release sounds like a good one. As for AI, I avoid it right now. Xo

Thanks for the reviews.

I agree completely on AI; it can be a useful tool and since it's here anyway, it'd be a shame not to use it. Thanks for the list of great books!

AI is definitely here to stay, Sandra, and I'm very hesitant to dive in and use it. :) But, you have some great reviews here. I enjoyed Gwen's new book immensely!

A great bunch of reviews! As for AI, I think there could be issues. We'll all watch it as it plays out.

I never considered AI for a synopsis. Interesting. I use it for images a lot, but not for writing. I don't like the "voice" if that makes sense.

And great reviews, Sandra. I've read Gwen's and Jacquie's and thought they were wonderful. Congrats to all the authors!

Jess, Homework and AI...kinda scary:)
Denise, They were good reads, weren't they? I get the avoidance:)xo
You are most welcome, Gwen:)
My reading pleasure, Craig.
Thanks for stopping by and your support to the writers, Beem. Yes, AI will bear watching.
Nicholas, I agree completely. AND. My reading pleasure;)
Hi Jan, Thanks for stopping by and supporting the authors. Gwen's book is a keeper, isn't it?
Diana, I'm just not sure how much success I'd have with AI and synopsis but yay for those folks that have mastered it. Thanks for stopping by and supporting our authors. Wonderful definitely sums up their work:)

I've seen some beautiful AI covers and think programs such as Grammerly AI is helpful for the editing process, but that's as far as I'm willing to go.
Thanks for the wonderful review, Sandra!

Enjoyed reading your blog, reviews, and especially, that ending image: Write on! May AI stay at arm's length . . . even if that's probably not realistic at all!
