Ketch-Up Day

How are you?  What have you been doing?

We took the train to Philadelphia and celebrated Thanksgiving with our lovely daughter and son-in-law. The train was over an hr late getting in which put us on it for over twelve hrs and a good portion of that was spent with no working toilet in our car. Next year I think we are either going to try the sleeper or fly.

Views from the train:

Thanksgiving.
Dinner as always was wonderful. We had a cheese board and crackers, and Christmas movies to see us through the day till dinner.

The squirrels and birds ate well too.

We went to Longwood Gardens Friday. (Pictures to follow.) Then headed home Saturday.

A few days later  we woke up to this:

Nori came to us Thursday.  We already have a problem. I caught her drinking my coffee.

Frank is as big as she is.

Callie is still unnerved and is not impressed that her spot on my lap has been usurped  by the interloper.

That's it for now. Hoping to get one more post out before the Holidays. How are you doing?

Be well.

Sigh on the train woes. The rest of your trip sounds and looks good. I like your winter wonderland.
Nori is just fulfilling her job as your new taste tester.

That is a long daytime train journey but it sounds like you had an excellent time away.
If some of your coffee being consumed by Nori is the worst that happens, you will have done very well.

Genial fin de semana.

Hi Sandra - all well here ... winds still buffeting; funny about Nori - but I guess better than your wine!! Perhaps?! Looks like a lovely time with your daughter and SIL, travelling is a pain ... end of story! Get them to come to you - then no travel?! Glad the four-legs are happy and getting along slowly ... cheers Hilary

Perhaps your most heartfelt expression of thanks was when the train finally rolled into the station! That cheese tray made it all worthwhile!

Apart from the overly long train without a working toilet, it sounds like quite a wonderful time, with family and the gardens, too. But that was a bumpy start!

Hi Andrew, Yes. Yes. And yes.

Jamie, If it had been of shorter duration, for the most part it would have been fun. I think you'd probably enjoy taking the train. A lot of the enjoyment depends on the conductors.

Yes:) Hope yours was, JP.

Aonymously Esther O'Neill, East of the Sun,and yesterday, the company booked to connect us cried off, again. Brilliant photos, but for a long train journey, I'd recommend Scandi - Narvik, Arctic Circle, to Stockholm. i hour late, on an almost 24 hrs journey, apologised endlessly and breakfast free -couldn't have anybody going hungry. All polumbiong worked too.

EC, The rest was excellent. Hope all is well on your end.

Hi Hils, Ha on the wine;) Spending time with my daughter and SIL is always special. They'll be coming in and cooking for Christmas. Yay! Don't let the winds buffet you around.
Cheers,

Good Ketch-up day, Sandra. Every time I see squirrels, I think of Peanut. Sigh.

Looks like a perfect trip except for the lack of bathroom facilities on the train. A sleeper sounds like a good way to go next time. Beautiful pics and hopefully your coffee stays safe! Xo
