Popple: Bubbling or rippling water.

Orchids are expensive. I remember a mystery show where a guy was murdered because he refused to sell his one-of-a-kind orchid.

Miriam and I were out and about the other day, walking alongside the Conestogo River, during one of those days when spring tantalized, only to return to snow and sleet the next day. The water was flowing and seething, churning and poppling, swollen by the snow melt. We passed a spot where spring ephemerals will soon be blooming. They don’t have the obscene values of orchids, but they are every bit as precious to us.

Incredible orchid fact.

Stiff winds caused the sea to roil. Thanks for the happy, little, time wasters, too. I don't feel like working today 🐱

Purrfect on popple, Elizabeth;)

YOU, have a great one.

I guess the Falls, er, Niagara Falls popple. I never heard that word before. As for the Orchid…that’s just ridiculous. I am just picturing it in my home being batted bout by the pussy cats.

Sandra Cox said...

True, You let me know when I'm going to see popple in your poetry;)

Hi Sandra - Popple ... interesting ... apparently it was first used in the Medieval age - 1100 - 1500s ... not easily found! Though a very descriptive word ... love it - thank you - cheers Hilary

Sandra Cox said...

It does, doesn't it, Jeanie?:)

Sandra Cox said...

Linda, Ripple's a good synonym. Weird about the orchid, hey? And ya gotta love flamingos:)
