Popple: Bubbling or rippling water.
Orchids are expensive. I remember a mystery show where a guy was murdered because he refused to sell his one-of-a-kind orchid.
Miriam and I were out and about the other day, walking alongside the Conestogo River, during one of those days when spring tantalized, only to return to snow and sleet the next day. The water was flowing and seething, churning and poppling, swollen by the snow melt. We passed a spot where spring ephemerals will soon be blooming. They don’t have the obscene values of orchids, but they are every bit as precious to us.
Incredible orchid fact.
Stiff winds caused the sea to roil. Thanks for the happy, little, time wasters, too. I don't feel like working today 🐱
I do love funny words. I just need a chance to incorporate them into some poems. Haha - thanks for the link. Happy Wednesday Sandra.
Excellent sentences and examples, as always, David:)
What a fun word. Wow! Expensive orchid:) xo
I don't know that word but it really works for those waves!
Ripple comes to mind. Great info on the orchid. And the flamingo made me smile.
Great example, CJ:)
Always happy to help out with the time wasters, heh. I'm good with you not working today:)
I am sure I popple after too many drinks.
Yes and yes. Let's go out and buy a couple dozen orchids, shall we, Denise? LOL. Okay, maybe not:)xo
Isn't that something, Christine? I LOVE flowers, but I think I would have passed on that one;)
Te mando un beso.
Purrfect on popple, Elizabeth;)
Apparently, some folks get very passionate about their flowers.
YOU, have a great one.
I guess the Falls, er, Niagara Falls popple. I never heard that word before. As for the Orchid…that’s just ridiculous. I am just picturing it in my home being batted bout by the pussy cats.
True, You let me know when I'm going to see popple in your poetry;)
Hi Sandra - Popple ... interesting ... apparently it was first used in the Medieval age - 1100 - 1500s ... not easily found! Though a very descriptive word ... love it - thank you - cheers Hilary
It does, doesn't it, Jeanie?:)
Linda, Ripple's a good synonym. Weird about the orchid, hey? And ya gotta love flamingos:)
Ha:)
Thanks, JP. Sending you hugs,
I'd say those falls would definitely popple, Birgit. and it is wild about the orchid, isn't it?
