Ketch-up Day

We're home! Our daughter recently had foot surgery so we went to Philly to spend a few days with her and the SIL. My job was to fill the squirrel, err, bird feeder. The regular-size squirrel shared the feeder with the birds.  Not Mr. Chubby. After he was done eating, Mr. Chubby--shown below--just sat in the feeder, refusing to let anyone else eat. Bad, Mr. Chubby.  Bad. Bad. Bad.

Harry and Holly's job is to keep our daughter company while she's laid up.  As you can see, they take their work very seriously.

And then, we headed home on the Choo-choo. Our normally eleven hour trip was fourteen.  Don't know what was going on there.

AND back at home:

Callie and Nori.

AND  a Belated Happy Birthday to J.P. and Janet.

Okay, it's your turn. Catch me up, Blogger Buds.

You took the train? Better than the bus.

Hope your daughter recovers quickly and completely. Interesting that you took the train. I don’t know of many people doing that these days. How was it?

Amtrak's timetables are ambitious. It is amazing that passenger trains on single tracks have to give way to freight trains.

Best wishes to your daughter for good healing.

Welcome back. I hope your daughter gets better.
I've never taken the train. It sounds like a fun ride.

Alex, We have traveled by rail for the last several years. We aren't up for driving that distance anymore and we don't like to fly. It runs from Charlotte to NY and is always full up. Lots of North Carolinians on it:) We go business class. More leg room and free non-alcoholic drinks.

Much appreciated, Donna. Thank you.

Hi David, We've been doing it for a few years now. We go business class and that makes for a more relaxing time. Our train is supposed to be getting new cars which will help tremendously. I'd love to have a bullet train on our route.

Innit the truth about freight trains, Andrew? I hope they put in the new coaches we are supposed to be getting on the train we take by Thanksgiving.....

Your daughter looks like she's in good paws. Mr. Chubby must be very entertaining.

Thank you, Christine. Much appreciated.

Thanks, Jamie. Trains can be fun. I'd love to see a bullet train on that route. Then it wouldn't be quite such a long ride.

They take their work seriously, don't they, FSG? ;)

Thanks, Adam. She's been on bed recovery for about 4 weeks now, we are hoping that she will soon have her 'walking' orders:)

Thank you, JP. Hope you had a grand Bday.

Heh. She is indeed. Mr. Chubby sits like a cat, in the feeder, with his paws hanging over the edge.

Thank you so much, Jan:)

Hi Sandra - looks like your daughter had four excellent carers ... mind you said animools can be quite heavy after a while!! I'd have thought you'd have invented a lassoo to keep the bird feeders clear of squirrels?? Well done on going business class on the Choo Choo - makes sense ... cheers Hilary
