Rose Quartz CAPA Nominee

Rose Quartz: CAPA Nominee

Isabella Tremaine's credo is always look your best even when you're running from the bad guys.

This modern Southern Belle has an ancient secret. Bella, as Isabella is known to her friends, is the possessor of a primeval amulet empowered by the gods with creativity and beauty, and this spunky blonde has an abundance of both.

Unfortunately a madman has discovered Bella's secret and is determined to gain possession of the amulet, even if he must kill her to do so. It will take every wile in Bella's formidable arsenal of tricks to outwit the megalomaniac who is after her.

At the same time the madman is trying to steal her amulet, a ranch hand is trying to steal her heart. Bella is determined to not only stay alive but to keep her size five stilettos foot loose and fancy free. Who will prove the greater danger? The madman who wants her amulet or the ranch hand who wants her heart?

Excerpt from Rose Quartz, Second in the Amulet Series

On instinct she walked into the den.

Hank was leaning over the desk, holding a piece of paper and punching in numbers with repressed fury. The expression on his face made her take a step backward. He spoke into the phone. “Morelly, pick up this phone, you son of a bitch. You listen and you listen good. If I find out you’re behind this last attempt on Bella, I’m coming after you. I will rip out your heart and stuff it down your throat. You’ve had your last warning from me.” He slammed down the phone with enough force to make Bella cringe. Pivoting on his heels, he spied her standing in the doorway.

She steadied herself and strolled into the room. “It takes a very brave man or a fool to threaten Morelly, sugar.” His expressionless mask was firmly back in place.
“And which do you think I am?”
“I’m still trying to figure that out.” You are my hero. You brave, foolish man.

His jaw set, he ground his teeth and fury radiated like lightning from his tense body. “Let me help you figure it out.” In two strides he was beside her. He yanked her to him.
For one helpless moment she stared into his stormy gray eyes then she lost touch with reason as his lips crashed down and claimed hers. She bobbled like a small craft on an angry sea with gigantic waves threatening to engulf her. She could taste fear and fury on his lips and above all desire. Her body molded against him. A perfect fit as she’d known it would be. Yes, yes, her mind sang. This is where I belong. You’re who I’ve been waiting for my entire life.

Wild Horse Slaughter

"The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is the agency within the U.S. Department of the Interior that administers America's public lands, including the animals who call this land home.

As part of its wild horse management program, the BLM has spent the past several years rounding up wild horses and keeping them in private, long-term holding facilities—which is expensive. Now, the agency wants to euthanize thousands of healthy horses, claiming it is too costly to feed and care for them.

The ASPCA encourages the BLM to explore other solutions, including but not limited to reopening additional land for the horses and increasing certain contraception programs that have already proven safe and effective.

What You Can Do
Please visit the ASPCA Advocacy Center to email a letter to your legislators in the U.S. Congress urging them to oppose the BLM’s plan to kill thousands of healthy wild horses.

Thank you for taking action for America's animals."

This is from the ASPCA and very troubling.

Jo Bu and excerpt

Jo Bu took his annual trip to the groomers.

Isn't he just the cutest thing? I love his lion cut. The hh unfortunately doesn't share my opinion. He think's Jo looks just plain weird.

Jo Bu hates getting his fur clipped. He literally goes around co
mplaining for a couple of weeks then it must grow out enough to satisfy him and he settles down.

The hh got the pleasure of taking him in. heh heh. He said all the cats took one look at the carrier, with that 'hope its not me' look
on their face and bolted in different directions.

The annual grooming is a necessary evil. Jo's indoor/outdoor and every cocklebur, leaf and weed seem to jump on him when he walks by. So every spring we take him in and get hi
m shaved down. Not only does it avoid matting but its also nice and cool for him.

Come fall, he'll have his full coat back just in time for winter. And before you know it we'll be starting the whole process over again.

Excerpt from Black Opal
Release Day: Thursday

“I want you like I want no other woman.”

Adam Morelly’s eyes looked deep into hers. She threw back her head drowning in their gold-flecked depths. His mouth drew closer. Her gaze flickered over it, her own lips parted. His breath smelled like fresh peppermint. His lips were on the thin side, chiseled like a finely sculpted statue, delicious and oh so kissable.

His hot gaze shifted from her mouth and traveled over her. Wherever his glance touched it scorched her. She’d swear her clothes would melt right off.

His warm hands rested on her shoulders.

“Darling,” she breathed.

The grip tightened and she was shaken. “Wake up, sugar.”

She blinked. Her erotic dream disintegrated like molecules exploding in the atmosphere. Yawning so wide it felt like her jaws would split, she sat up, the sheet falling to her waist.

Bella laughed. “Who would have thought such a proper little thing sleeps in the nude?”

How I Survived 8 Hrs. Of Christmas Shopping

How I survived eight hours of Christmas shopping:

1. A breakfast burrito at McDonalds minus the sausage.
2. A stop at Starbucks for the Christmas blend coffee and a cranberry bar
3. A break and a strawberry-banana smoothie
4. A respite at Panera Bread and a bagel and tea.

Oh yes, and then I treated myself to a Josh Groban CD.

Shopping

I approach shopping the way some folks do hunting--which I'm not that in favor of by the way:) But like hunters for me its the thrill of the hunt. Unless my back is against the wall I never buy clothes if they aren't on sale. The kind term for one such as myself is 'power shopper'. But in actuality I'm a bit of a bottom feeder. I try not to buy until a big sign is posted on the rack that says '50-75% off last marked down price' and then I move in for the kill, err, swoop in for the sale.
Like the hunter, after my purchases are 'bagged' I proudly carry my sacks around the mall like trophies, swept along on a shopper's high.
For those of you who are new to this type of hunting a few words of caution and suggestions:
There will always be sales. If you can't use it don't buy it.
Buy at the end of the season. You will get your clothes at a fraction of the cost and will have a brand new wardrobe to pull out of the closet in about six months.
Check the adds: Often time there's a 20% coupon that can be applied to the 50-75% clearance rack.
Pace yourself. Don't get so caught up in the thrill of the hunt that you spend more than you normally would have. I allow myself X amount of dollars per month. When its gone its gone and I sit tight until the beginning of the next month when my allowance kicks in again.
Okay ladies, are you ready? Take your vitamins, do some stretching exercises and wear comfortable clothes, this could be all day event. Its time to shop!
