When the baby Jesus was born in Bethlehem Christmas night a barren Holly bush, located near the stable, burst into bloom.
I have always thought of Christmas time, when it come around, as a good time; a kind, forgiving, charitable time; the only time I know of, in the long calendar of the year, when men and women seem by one consent to open their shut up hearts freely, and to think of people below them as if they were fellow passengers to the grave, and not another race of creatures bound on other journeys .

I havent't seen Holly in years. I'm not so sure on the good will and peace like that Charles is on about...seems as a planet we really don't give a crap about each other
Many don't, but thank goodness for the small handful that do.
PS That holly tree is right off our porch. One of the things I like about the south is the holly.
We have a holly bush infront of our house and I hate the thing. It's prickly and it grows like crazy.
I love Holly. They are prickly though.
Heh. We have a holly in front of our apartment, but it doesn't have berries. Merry Christmas to you, Sandra!
I like the old fashioned roses. Most of the modern ones don't have much scent at all.
Thanks, Ms. Anny, and back at ya.
Shelley, I agree. Love the old ones.
Merry Christmas Sandra. Thank you for the lovely post. We have to believe in the goodness of people if only at Christmas time.
