I'm Back.....

The wedding's over and we're all winding down. There was plenty of excitement and drama to go around. Two days before the wedding the hubby was still having issues from the appendectomy. It was a toss up whether he would be going to the wedding or the hospital. In a panic, I called my brother to ask if I could beg a ride to the wedding if the hubby ended up in the hospital. Luckily, the hubby's doctor finally let him go but sent his medical records with him in case he had to be hospitalized out of state. My brother concerned about the hubby being on meds and driving asked: "Do you remember the old joke about I'd rather die like Grandpa peacefully in my sleep than like the passengers in his car screaming in terror? Why don't you ride with us?"

On the way up, in the DC area, we took a wrong turn and thought we were approaching a  toll booth.  We were trying to pay when we noticed 'the attendant'  was wearing Kevlar and packing heat. Somehow, we'd taken the exit to the NSA Headquarters. After a quick U-ie we were back en route.
We finally arrived in Philly.  Have you ever driven in Philly? It has narrow streets and parking is at a premium. We pulled into the lot by the hotel where cars were three deep. A man whose primary language wasn't English and who wasn't wearing a uniform asked for the keys.My sis-in-law opted for a parking garage.

My other brother came up in a BAT (big ass truck). He was okay for the wedding since the church had its own parking lot but he had no luck when he tried to find a place to park for the reception. He finally found one lot that had a space he'd fit in but they wouldn't let him park because he'd only be parking for four hours. So he and his wife weren't able to attend the reception.

We stayed at a nice hotel whose rooms were more like what you would find in a B and B. See pic. We were only given one key so I spent a good bit of time tracking down someone to let me in the room whenever I left it. We got overcharged but luckily got that straightened out.

Tomorrow: Getting ready for the wedding or...dress drama.

Glad it went well and you got a ride from your brother.
Your other brother's truck was so big he couldn't park at the reception. That is a big ass truck.
Welcome back!

Wow! NSA headquarters? That was an adventure. Glad DH was up to attending the wedding. Too bad about your brother and the BAT. Driving in Philly sounds remarkably like driving in Boston.

Ah, Philly parking! I remember it well. Fortunately, I took the train in whenever I could. I'm glad all went well!

Gosh, you had quite the adventure surrounding this wedding! I'd say you both are troopers! Thanks so much for visiting Writer's Alley. I really appreciate it!

lmao better watch out, the NSA may be monitoring you closely now. Parking is always a pain.

It is indeed, Alex. They pulled a camper with it and on the way back hit some lovely beach spots.

OMG. Seriously, Dez?

And not only were the streets narrow, they were lumpy and bumpy, lol.

That sounds like an adventure in so many ways - tons of stories to tell. Glad it all went well!

Ha-ha on the NSA oops. My husband's a math prof. and some of his former students work for them now.

Hi, CJ! How are you? I bet the streets are similar both being historical cities. We ended up on a lot of narrow, brick streets.

I am glad your husband didn't get an appendix attack and all went well. I had mine out in 1987. Your brother's truck sounds huge. Is it jacked up also?? I would feel I would need a step ladder to get into those trucks:) The room pic you show looks quite nice.

Thanks, Diana. Yup, train transportation, whenever possible, is the way to go.Thanks for stopping by:) Also thanks for the follow, much appreciated.

Happy to, SA. And back at ya.
Yes, the wedding had its share of adventures:)

That thought crossed my mind too. Grin.
Parking is indeed a pain.

Oh dear! Sounds terrible about your hubby, Sandra. I am still keeping him in my prayers.
It's really tough finding parking in Philly. I was born there and visit from time to time so I know exactly how narrow the streets are. I will be there this Saturday evening for my sister's bachelorette party. We rented a limo for exactly these reasons so we can get picked up and dropped off to every location she wants to visit that night.
I'm back!

Any near-death experiences? I'm always curious about that. Wow...

Loved the NSA part. What a hoot! I've never driven in Philly but live in Houston, on the SW side...which doesn't get much road repair attention.
Also LOVE the butterflies on your blog. Fit for me perfectly!

They certainly were!

Thanks T. Yes, lots of stories and the wedding was wonderful:)

I'm happy to say no:)

That is so neat! I bet he's proud.

Hi Birgit,
Definitely not jacked up. It's just one of the larger pick ups, made for comfort and hauling. But in Philly the smaller the better.

Hi Sweetie,
A limo's a great idea. The aunts were using Ubers and really liked their rides.
I know you're going to have an excellent time.

PS. The hubby's back to normal (whatever that might be:)

Hi Terry,
It was pretty surreal. We're where? Where? grin.
Oh boy, road repair. I'm not even sure what that is any more.
Thanks for stopping by:) Glad you like the butterflies. A buddy did the background for me.

Sorry to hear your brother couldn't attend the reception. How big is his truck?

Welcome back. I always try to park my own car a friend had her car smashed up by the valet parking and they claimed they didn't do it????

Sandra Cox said...

Hi Kelly,
Thanks. He got to the wedding so that was the most important part. Its not a monster truck just big. I asked for a picture to post.

Sandra Cox said...

I'm with you, True, we've had valet issues too. Our car came back dragging a part, but of course it wasn't from valet parking. wink wink
