IWSG Wednesday

The first Wednesday of every month is officially Insecure Writer’s Support Group day. Members post about their doubts and fears, discuss struggles and triumphs, and offer words of encouragement to others who are struggling.

January 3 IWSG Question: What steps have you taken or plan to take to put a schedule in place for your writing and publishing?
As far as my schedule, and I use that term loosely: In the mornings I feed the critters (God forbid that gets skipped!), grab a cup of coffee, turn on CNN and visit my blogger buds. This is a gray area, but I consider blogging part of my writing regime.
After lunch: I write.
In the evenings I edit and if time allows work on my marketing strategy, which involves a lot of trial and error.
I don't have a publishing schedule. I have some loose goals that if stretched out I almost meet:)
What about you? If you write or craft do you have a schedule?
My latest finished project:

A Young/New Adult Paranormal/Light Horror Novel

On  the  eve  of  her  eighteenth  birthday,  Aurora  Valente  goes  through  disturbing changes. She purrs and craves raw meat. Most alarming of all, she’s taken to chasing wildlife.
Her aunt gives her a beautiful, antique choker and tells her a story about a shapeshifting Minder princess and the beast that hunts the Minder’s descendants. To Aurora it’s only a story...till later that night when her world takes a turn into terror.

You have ANOTHER book out? Colour me awed.
And yes, feeding the critters (regardless of how many legs they have) is priority one here too.

Good luck with your New Book Sandra. I'm sure it will be a success.

This new book sounds good. I don't really have a schedule for anything these days, but most mornings I spend sitting at the computer, visiting blogs and drinking coffee! Hugs, Valerie

You are a prolific author. Your loose schedule sounds like you have a plan and execute it. I always say I spend more time thinking about or planning what I'm going to create, than I do creating it. If the ideas aren't flowing, I have trouble creating. When they flow, I can make something fairly quickly. I really LOVE your strategy.

Congratulations on the new release! Obviously your loose schedule works.

Happy New Year, Sandra!

The critters would surely NOT let you skip that important morning step.

I love the cover of MINDER. Congratulations!

I need a schedule. I'm working no our family history book and I keep falling down research rabbit holes that I find fascinating. (Candymaking in Buffalo in the 1800s!)

I love your new cover! Congratulations!

I assume most people are split into timely organization and chaotic organization where they'll write whenever they can

It's a redo:)
Yup, no slack for any of us on critter feeding is there?:)

Yes, I do have a schedule and I have to admit that my blogging comes at the end of the list. I have to improve on that.
Wishing you all the best for 2018.

I don't have a schedule but I'm happy when I write daily and if I get there I know I can put 1000 or so words down. I have other disciplines and they all feel like good solid habits now. Your new book sounds wonderful!

Schedule or not, you get the writing done. Congrats on the book.

I have cats, birds, and squirrels to feed. I fear one morning I'll open the curtain and the whole family of squirrels will be at the window, waiting.

Some things are mandatory, like feeding the critters. Then there's the next level, like paint your toenails--who sees them in the winter anyway? You obviously have fit a very big chunk of important writing into your schedule. Your book sounds exciting.

I need to get blogging into my schedule more. Maybe I'll do what you do. Every morning while listening to CNN, I'll see what's new in my blog feed. Sounds good! I'll start doing that tomorrow. :)

Just keep on keeping on is our way too. After the cats get fed of course haha don't want to lose an arm

I've been only going on-line twice a month. I do keep up with email and twitter. Instead I focus on writing daily and family. It works for me. :-)

Thank you so much, Yvonne. I appreciate that.

Sounds like my kind of morning, Val:)
Hugs back,

I completely agree with you, Elizabeth. It's the same with writing, if you don't have ideas nailed down, the writing takes twice as long.
And may I add you create well:)

Ahh, yes, the critters. Our one pussy cat, Jade, leaps up on me and sleeps on my chest or shoulder around the time she wants to be fed. She meows like I have not fed her in a month. Kaspar just wants to play and the other 2 meow. Wallace is freaked because he has to go outside before he has his food-ughhh. I am the last to sit and eat. I will watch stuff I have taped and read blogs and then I get to clean or organize-that is on the saturday. Monday to friday I am still working and friday is good ole grocery shopping. Sundays is when I do my best to craft. I did create 9 bookmarks which I have not shown and started on some tags. In between all of this I visit my mom, dr's and rest as i am budhed when i get home. Oh-I probably have carpel tunnel but have to see a specialist to get testing done on the nerves from my elbow down. The severity will depend whether I just have to wear a brace or need surgery. I am hoping for the former. I am wearing a brace already on my right hand when I type or sleep. Hope you are well:)

Thanks, Alex. It's actually a redo:)

Happy New Year to you, Jennifer.
You are so right about the critters;)
Thank you:)

Sandra Cox said...

Oh yeah, those research rabbit holes will sidetrack you every time. Fascinating though aren't they?

It's all about priorities isn't it, Pat. And every person's is different.
Thanks for the well wishes and right back at ya:)

Excellent, Jan!
Thank you:)

Thanks, Di.
LOL. I've got a mental image now of squirrels all lined up in a row at your window:)

Sandra Cox said...

Well, yes, we do have to make time to paint toenails. Grin.
Thanks, Lee.
Have a good one:)

Sandra Cox said...

It's a plan. I'll think of you while I'm drinking my coffee:)

Sandra Cox said...

Ha Right there with ya on protecting the arm:)

Sandra Cox said...

Good job, Anna!

You have an extremely full schedule, my friend! Good luck with your hand. I thought I had carpel tunnel too, but it turned out to be the ulnar nerve in my elbow. I'll be anxious to hear what they find out.

Birgit said...

Ughh..budhed?? I meant to write bushed.

Minder looks fantastic Sandra!!!
I don't have a schedule, but I should! I just find it hard. I like to create, when I feel it, which is really weird times of the day! LOL!
Big Hugs!

Congrats on your new release! What an exciting time. Do you find it difficult to go back to a schedule when you just want to take some time to celebrate your accomplishment? Intriguing premise.
