Did you know, Mary Higgins Clark, who recently died at age ninety-two, was thought to be the first author who received an eight figure contract?
She continued to write till near the end of her life. I find that very inspiring and hope the same can be said of me when I pass. RIP Mary Higgins Clark.

Mary Higgins Clark wrote SO well. I always enjoyed her mysteries. I also read a couple of stories by her daughter, Carol Higgins Clark, but they don't really compare to Mary's great cozies. RIP indeed.
Good to know, she deserved it, I always loved her books. Hugs, Valerie
Excellent news, and I love that she kept at it. I feel sure you will too.
She wrote until the end - good for her.
She lived her life her way and congrats to her, not only for the amazing salary but that she wrote until the end. Let us be so lucky.
No, but that's pretty cool. She had quite a remarkable life -- and output, too!
No, I didn't know. But she did have a long life, and it was great that she kept at writing until the end.
I used to read her books all the time. I'll have to read one of her books in memory of a great writer.
Wow! That's an interesting fact. Thanks. :-)
Greetings from London.
That's a huge contract.
She was great. And I love that she's another author that worked hard to overcome many obstacles and became a success story.
isn't her daughter a writer as well .... same genre as mary ?? !! ~~~ ☺☺♥♥
Thanks, EC:) I appreciate that.
Huge kudos to her for that.
It was a huge accomplishment. From what I read, she had no idea she'd be so wildly successful.
I'll take an eight figure contract, preferably before I'm almost dead. Now if only the rugrats would leave uncle pattie alone...or maybe I'd leave them alone lol
Interesting.
She certainly did. Not necessarily easy, but remarkable.
I'm so impressed with that and that she continued to be successful.
That would be a wonderful tribute, Elizabeth.
My pleasure:)
Indeed. I'd be quite thrilled with a few 0s less:) Heh.
That would be correct:)
I'd be happy with five:)
Enjoy the rugrats, Uncle Pattie:)
Eight figures. Wow. But what did she write? Ah, suspense novels. I don't think I have read any of her books.
Such a loss of a brilliant writer. I have read many of her books and have quite a few on my shelves. I didn't know that tidbit, but I'm not surprised at all. Love your trivia so much! Hugs, RO
I don't think I knew that she died. My mom loved her books.
Love,
Janie
You were probably just a young'un when she hit her peak:)
It is a loss, but it sounds like she lived a long, creative, fascinating life. Kudos to her, especially for writing up to the end, or near as darnit:)
Glad you enjoy the trivia.
Hugs received and returned.
She had a huge following. Definitely a master at her craft.
Wow, good for her!!!
RIP Mary Higgins Clark.
All the best Jan
