Did you know, before Jefferson penned the statute for religious liberty in 1786, in the Anglican church it was a crime in Virginia not to baptize infants?
*Considering religious liberty is why many of our ancestors came to America, I found this appalling.

Another unknown fact Sandra, also Happy birthday to Elizabeth.
Have a great day and keep well.
Yvonne.
I didn't know, and it was a crime indeed! Hugs, Valerie
A very, very happy Bearthday to dear Elizabeth.
I agree with you - that factoid is shocking. And sadly continues in one form or another. Prejudice is dangerous.
I totally agree Sandra. That is, or at least was, a very dangerous precedent (and law). Thank you for remembering my bEARTHday, dear friend.
Wow! That bit of trivia is quite shocking indeed! Happy, Happy Bearthday to the very wonderful Elizabeth! Hugs, RO
Yes, religious freedom along with the right to not believe.
I would agree completely, though I didn't know that! Birthday greetings to Elizabeth!
Wow. Happy Birthday Elizabeth.
Sadly, I could see this pass in many states now. remember, it was the Puritans who came to your country...their name seems to sum it up. A happy Birthday to Elizabeth!
Wow, that is amazing.
happy birthday to Elizabeth.
Thanks, Yvonne! You have a great day and be well also.
That's for sure, Val.
Hugs received and returned.
I hope your day is wondrous and as special as you are:)
Birthday hugs,
Correction: BEarthday:)
Good factoid. Makes us remember...
Another fact of which I was not aware.
I must have lived, and am living, my life hiding from the law. I wasn't baptised!! Oh! Wicked me!! :)
It is shocking, isn't it, Rockin Ro.
And Elizabeth is wonderful indeed:)
Indeed:)
Dato muy interesante, te mando un beso y buen fin de semana
Interesting tidbit...
I didn't know that. I don't think a person should be baptized if they have not agreed in doing so, or if they don't know what's going on.
Yes. Sigh.
It was a shocker to me.
Very good point.
Belated Happy birthday to Elizabeth.
All the best Jan
Lots of nasty things are done in the name of religion.
Love,
Janie
So much trivia. So little time:)
Heh:)
Glad you liked it, J.P.
Happy weekend.
Hugs
Glad you think so, True:)
I can certainly understand that.
Innit the truth.
Thanks for the well wishes to Elizabeth, Jan. Hope you are enjoying your weekend.
Happy Earth Day!
Happy Belated Birthday Elizabeth!
Everyone should leave religion out of everything!!
Big Hugs!
