Ketchup Day

The good. The sad. And the ugly.

Greetings Blogger Buds. Hope you had good holidays and or weekend.
We took the train to Philly to spend Thanksgiving with the baby girl and the SIL. It was the first time for us to travel by train and we will probably do it again.

The sad.

We saw two homeless men in separate locations sleeping on wet city streets. So depressing.

The ugly.

Oh my God. Oh my God.   A woman was walking down the street with her bare hinnie hanging out of  her sweat pants.  I'm talking full moon.  It was not a pretty sight. I'm afraid that image is permanently stuck in my brain. Ack. Ack. Ack.

The good.

Our dinner definitely fell under the good category.

 Homemade Butter Squash Pie.

Ever seen blue eggs? Aren't they pretty?

My son-in-law made this bed frame.  Color me awed.

And some fun and fascinating shots.
A manikin.
Statue.
An indoor Bio wall.

I loved this chair.  It's difficult to see with the reflections on the glass.

And,of course, the Liberty Bell.

And last but not least, Philly at night.

How was your weekend/Holiday? Do anything fun?

More pictures next week.

Definitely some good, some bad and some ugly. I hope the wonders you saw replace the bare butt in your mind's eye.

Homeless people sleeping streets, wet or otherwise is to be seen in every city of a decent size around the world. It doesn't make it right, but it is how things stand.

Do blue eggs have blue yolks?

Awed is a great colour for a bed.

Manikin rather than mannequin.

Did you venture to the bio wall and pull off a leaf to check that it was real?

The chair would look nice in a bedroom.

I should know about the Liberty Bell, but sadly I don't.

Glad you enjoyed your time with the kids. In the town centre of Düsseldorf there are always homeless, most of them sleep in the park. So sad! Hugs, Valerie

I have never seen blue eggs! Were they dyed?

The food looked great - especially the squash cake. And I liked the mannequin sitting leisurely in a chair.

As for the homeless: Andrew is right - you see them in every city. There are not so many here in Braga, but you do see them occasionally here, too, and I worry about them with the coming cold weather.

Hi Sandra - some not good sights ... but some lovely ones and times to remember ... love the photos - the mannikin lounging waiting for his absinthe ... cheers Hilary

Glad you had a good holiday. It's sad how many people are homeless and hungry in our country.

Very colorful!
You're right. You can never unsee that.

I can't unsee the image of a full moon rising out of sweatpants. 😺 Our friends from SC have chickens that lay pastel colored eggs like Easter eggs. We may visit the Eldest in Philly after Christmas. We're thinking of taking the train, too.

EC, Thanks for the well wishes. At present that sight is still implanted on my brain:)
Hey Andrew, Blue egg shells. Yellow yolks:) No reason you would know about The Liberty Bell. It's the symbol of America's Independence and was commissioned in 1752 and cast with the message: "Proclaim LIBERTY Throughout all the Land unto all the Inhabitants Thereof"
Thanks, Val. Seeing homeless is always sad isn't it?
Hi Elizabeth, The eggs are naturally blue.
Hils, Glad you enjoyed the photos. Isn't that manikin a hoot?

Thanks, Ashok.
Christine, Thanks and definitely.
CJ, Aren't you glad I shared that image. Choke.Choke. Hack.Hack. Let me know if you take the train. I think we'll probably take it again next year.
Alex, That's for sure.
Natalie, Yes, especially since we are such an affluent country.

It is all too common to see homeless on the streets, at Christmas many of our towns and cities open more shelters for the homeless to stay. We could do with these all year round. I don't think there is an easy answer/solution to this problem.

Pleased you enjoyed time with family.

All the best Jan

Some sights are better left unseen. Yikes...It sounds like you had a nice holiday. Now, to get the Christmas shopping done.

There is a Victorian Stroll around here this coming weekend and the city decorates all the windows. It is always fun to see what they create.

Yes, I have seen these blue eggs...they are cool and my mom had a few and created some neat faberge style eggs without changing the colour. I wish I had one of those but they sold pretty quickly. Why...why would that woman not pull her pants up?? I just don’t get it. Yes, seeing homeless people is hard at times since they all have had lives before they ended up homeless. One, that I knew, was a nuclear physicist but became an alcoholic and lost his family, job ...everything. Your dinner looks great and I bet it tasted even better.

My friend and I went to the One of a Kind Show for the first time since 2019. It was really nice but I walked...a lot. It was worth it though...so much to see.

Seems the homeless are everywhere. I agree it's very, very sad. I won't comment on the grown woman and her choice of clothing. I WILL comment on the lovely meal and the beautiful photos from around Phlly. AWESOME!

Hi Jan, It's an unfortunate circumstance, isn't it?
The Victorian Stroll sounds like fun, True.
Birgit, Aren't the pastel eggs fun? The popular consensus with the woman imprinted on my brain was free advertising. The story of nuclear physicist is sad.

Yvonne, Maybe two out of three. Definitely not ugly.

Elizabeth, Unfortunately, the homeless are everywhere. Very sad. The meal was great. Thanks;)

Such a beautiful post, I want to share a testimony on how Dr itua healing herbs cure me.
The worst time has passed”However, it is true that there are more improvements than before...because of the rising numbers of people living with HIV in the state of Nevada. How could they stigmatize all of them? Therefore everything becomes a little easier and we start to share everything... We also started to invite and visit each other in a community. You know, it is six years since I started taking antiretroviral drugs...Yet whatever problems I face, the worst time has passed
When I was evicted from the family home by my mother, my father rented a small room for me. But my mother and brothers believed that having HIV was my own fault – and that I deserved to be punished...I also considered myself unworthy and without hope... But I have a child and eventually I convinced myself to live for my child’s sake.
My mother knew nothing [about HIV]. She didn’t understand anything. Do you know why? She didn’t have [the chance] to go out of the house and communicate with society. However, my father does interact with the community. I know his friends are mature and dignified in africa america. So he has a better understanding than her.
My father came call me on a sadfull day sitting on my couch about a friend of his from africa who introduce him to Dr Itua herbal cure in africa in which he advise we should purchase his herbal medicine to cure my hiv so we did and Dr Itua prescribed I should drink the herbal medicine for two weeks to cure although we were so curious about the whole thing ,I finished the herbal medicine like he advised then he talked to me to visit my nearest clinic for check up I did and now I'm totally cured from Hiv my father was my rock and I and my family are now happy together also Dr Itua has be helpful in my community ever since he cure my Hiv and my tinnitus so why I'm leaving my story on here today is to reach out someone out here to hope on God and never give up no matter the situation you that you are facing especially through this pandemic seasons which has really taught us all on how we should be helpful to each other and cherish one another.
