Readers and Writers, Did You Know

 Did you know, the term gumshoe, originated from shoes made of India rubber, which allowed more stealthy movements on hard surfaces.

Gum shoes. I wonder if ours are the same as yours, that fitted over your shoe to keep your shoes dry. I think they might also be called galoshes. Yes, they were or are rubber, so the rubber came from somewhere where rubber was grown and I am sure India was one such place. Gum boots were different. They went up to below the knee.

I hadn't heard of gum boots before, but it makes sense if there is gum shoes there would be gum boots:)
