Well,
so far (knock on wood) the scratching post seems to be working. I think it helps that it's fairly tall, has tight carpeting, which seems to appeal to the critters. And I'm sure the catnip I spray on it doesn't hurt anything:)

Signs of Spring in the Garden
The tulips are ready for spring.
The rose bushes are thinking seriously about it.
.
It's time to plant the holly tree.
AND
An easy peasy salad
layered with spinach leaves, shredded carrots, apples, walnuts, red peppers with honey mustard dressing. The next time I made it, I left out the red peppers and liked the flavor better.
What about you blogger buds, got an easy salad? Signs of spring in the garden? Scratch pads or posts that work?

Signs of spring here would be alarming. There is a slight discolouring of some tree leaves as autumn approaches. I am not fond of red peppers, or too many of them.
Hi Sandra - Spring is definitely on its way here ... I have a normal salad every day for lunch - varied on occasions and will eat one when I'm out. Enjoy your healthy salads ... have a peaceful week - the King of the Castle scratching post does seem to be working well - cheers Hilary
So good to see signs of Spring. That ain't happening here for another month at least. The kitties have a scratching post that's about 3 feet high on top of the post is a carpeted, round sitting area or napping area we call the nest. Quill likes to take naps in it. To the right of the post is a carpeted barrel. Calli used to like to nap in that. Sometimes they fight for the nest. Quill uses the scratching post. Calli likes to scratch on my mother's chairs.
Flowers are coming up here. Hope the scratching post continues to work.
My tulips are coming up too. My northern flower beds are a bit behind your southern ones, but we're moving into spring and I'm ready for some flower gardening!
Spraying catnip on that post, I think is a great idea! My wife grows catnip in our yard, and our cat loves it!
Those flowers in your garden are beautiful!
I know my wife looks forward to gardening again this year.
Your cat looks quite happy. Here in coastal Iberia (Portugal and Galicia) the coming of spring is heralded in the countryside by broom and gorse and heather. In towns, flowering quince and peach and pear and apple blossoming trees. But it's still cooooooold.
Lovely to see spring coming in!
loveseat is the scratching post; nothing blooming here...yet...easy salad; ALREADY: shredded lettuce; shredded cheese, shredded olives
and a gallon of ranch dressing { homemade ;) ☺☺♥♥
Yum. I love ranch dressing. I'll be right over;) Maybe I should bring Callie and Frank to visit with the tabbies;)
Signs of spring would be alarming in your neck of the woods, for sure, Andrew:)
I like red peppers but they didn't do anything for this salad.
Oh, my cats would love that!
I used to have a cat I grew mint for. He loved anything mint:)
Thank you and here's hoping your wife gets to garden soon:)
Take special care.
Good on you for being a salad lady, Hils. It's about the healthiest thing you can eat.
Cheers,
Sounds like you picked out a good one. This one is just under 3'. I think the height is one of the reasons it appeals. We could order the seat attachment. I'm sure they'd love it. Those darn Calli/Callie cats are just terrors on furniture aren't they? That's what has been our problem with Callie.
PS. Another month till spring. Hiss. Spit.
Yay for up coming flowers:)
Toes crossed on the scratching post continuing to work.
Oh yes, me too, Liz. Though, I'm already cringing at the thought of weeding. They also are cropping up:)
It sounds like heaven.
Thanks for stopping by.
It's been warm where I am. I can't believe it's already March.
What a handsome boy! No scratch pads but I do have one very teeny -- half inch, if that -- sprout in the garden. I'll take it!
Funny...last week, my hubby made a scratching post at about the same height but no carpet on it. I will tell him about this and maybe that will work. No life in our garden as we are to get another snowstorm tomorrow late in the day.
I kno9w, right?
Let's hear it for sprouts:)
Not another snowstorm......Groan.
It is glorious.
