Elizabeth, They're an acquired taste:) EC, A friend of mine wanted Amazing Grace played on bagpipes at her funeral. She got Amazing Grace, unfortunately no bagpipes. Val, They can get screechy:) Alex, Thumbs up. CJ, Yes:) Birgit, Woot. Christine, Glad you think so:) Donna, I hear ya on that;) Denise, Your Thursday's factoid. Hugs
That was an amazing fact (to me) about bagpipes. To me, they are so musical. In fact, in Galicia, there are concerts given by Gaiteros (players of the Galician form of bagpipe). I can't imagine them as scaring off the enemy!
I do believe I know that. I love the bagpipes...having, as a kid, always enjoyed watching the pipe band play as they marched along the main street of the town of my childhood every Saturday night. :)
Jeanie, Hope your birthday was wondrous. Elizabeth V. That sounds lovely. I think they're an acquired taste. When I first heard them, I thought they were grating. Now I thoroughly enjoy them.

But they're so pleasant. How could they be scary?
QUITE understandable. Bagpipe music always makes me weep.
Happy Birthday Jeanie.
That could be right, the noise is awful! Happy Birthday Jeanie! Hugs, Valerie
I did know that one!
That makes sense!
I knew that! I watched a documentary and they spoke about the bagpipes. Funny to think of it as a scare tactic.
Interesting
Never knew that...but, I don't get out much...lolol

Happy birthday, Jeannie! I would have guessed they were used as a call to war or funeral marches- this is interesting.

I had no idea about the bagpipes but I'm not surprised! They scare me, too! And thank you all for the birthday greetings!
Glad you enjoyed it, Jacquie. Thanks for stopping by:)
Thumbs up. I bet those pipe bands were wondrous.
