I'm thrilled to share a new release from good friend and author D.L. Finn. I love her poetry and if you haven't tried it, you are in for a treat.

Surrounded by abundance.
Staring eyes see nothing.
Sweet scent of spring goes unnoticed.
The sun's warmth, tries to thaw frozen souls
Birds croon good news, no one hears it.
Earth offers wisdom, we live in an icy vacuum
Our senses have become numb.
Until that day.
When one brave soul steps outside that cave
And finally sees where they are.
Heavenly exquisiteness makes them cry.
And opens their once-closed heart and mind.

The Bookcase
The dusty-book aroma filled me with happiness. The old house was mine now, including this exquisite library. My hand brushed over some of the great classics Treasure Island, Moby Dick, Pride and Prejudice, The Great Gatsby, and Little Women. I sneezed and continued to rescue the collection from its grimy lair. There would be hours of reading seated by a roaring fire. I breathed in gratitude, knowing all my dreams had come true. Then, I ran across a book that would not budge. A heavy tug revealed what was hidden.

FUN FINN FACTS
1. I played Scrabble for the first time this year, thanks to my husband’s suggestion. Now I’m addicted and got a new board set for my husband and my 40th Wedding Anniversary.
2. I’ve collected rocks and crystals since I was a little girl. There are so many around the house that it takes me several trips to put them all on my front deck to give them a nice full-moon bath.

D. L. Finn is an independent California local who encourages everyone to embrace their inner child. She was born and raised in the foggy Bay Area, but in 1990 she relocated with her husband, kids, dogs, and cats to Nevada City, in the Sierra foothills. She immersed herself in reading all types of books but especially loved romance, horror, and fantasy. She always treasured creating her own reality on paper. Finally, surrounded by towering pines, oaks, and cedars, her creativity was nurtured until it bloomed. Her creations include children’s books, adult fiction, a unique autobiography, and poetry. She continues on her adventure with an open invitation to all readers to join her.

Beautiful words, DL! And so spot on. Whenever I feel sorry for myself, I remind myself that my biggest problem as an American is that I have too much stuff. Some days it blinds me to the beauty right in front of me.
