A-Z: LaPerm
Like many breeds the LaPerm came from a gene mutation. This mutation is called a Rex gene. These felines come in both long and short hair. The longhair has a curly tail and the short hair has a bottle-brush tail. Their heads are wedge-shaped and they have tufts of hair in their ears.
These cats are good with children and are also a good cat for first time cat owners. Since their gene pool is diversified they are less susceptible to disease. They only need to be brushed once or twice a week. All in all, a healthy purebred.

Learning all the time. Despite being cat obsessed this is a breed I didn't know about. Thank you.
oh, kitty, you so funny :)
These are gorgeous, just love them! Hugs, Valerie
We learn something every day Sandra, wonderful to read.
Yvonne.
I've never heard of that breed. Unique coat.
First I've heard of that one too. Although I'm sure I've seen a few
Hi, dear Sandra!
I never heard of the La Perm breed. It was fascinating to learn about its origin and the fact that first of the breed almost got ground up by a car engine. La Perms are cute and, I can only imagine, cuddly. I don't know which type I'd prefer, short hair or long, but I'd love to have one in my lap right now so that I could give it some serious lubbins. :)
Thank you, dear friend Sandra!
Never knew there were so many breeds of cats. All that have ever owned me have been DSH
Curly hair on cats! How cute is that? They're beautiful.
Like many of the cats you have featured, I have never heard of the La Perm breed. They are adorable and I was surprised they came in so many diverse colors. To think this is a gene mutation really impressed me. I'm SO enjoying this cat series and learn something new each day.
Too cute. I don't think I've met one though! Curly hair I would remember.
LOL when I saw the title of this, I thought it was going to be about hair permanents! (As in , "I can't wash my hair because I just got la perm.")

Hi Alex, It sure is:)
First time for me too, Pat.
Shady, I think you need a cat.
I hadn't heard of them either, Magic. Glad you like them:)
Hugs back.
There is a huge variety isn't there? DSH are good kitties. That's been the majority of mine.
No perms for these guys:)
Or I guess I should say no MORE perms for these guys:)
I'm glad you're enjoying it, Elizabeth:)
I haven't seen one either, Yolanda.
Ha. I remember those days. It's been along time since I've had la perm:)
Totally awesome kitties:)
Thank you, Susan. I'm enjoying yours as well.
Ah, but the longhairs get cat hair in everything.

Yes, they are, Jens:)
They sure do! Although our short haired dog sheds worse than the long haired cat....Go figure.
Cute video with the cat drinking out of the glass :)
Cute pussy cats that are also sweet...and not like the Hapsburgs or some other inbred Royal
Wow, I haven't heard of this breed. Interesting that a breed was born from a mutation!
I love cats so much :) this post makes me happy.
Glad you liked it, M-w:)
