This is one I'm going to have to look up. I have no idea because I've never even seen the word before.

I had to look it up too. Glorious colour, but not a word I use.

I too had to check. Blue glass, and if no one knows what smalt means, maybe it is word best left unused.

My favourite colour! I love this jewel tone...Cobalt!
Funny, add a Z at the end and you have Smaltz. That is a German word for a food they spread on rye bread, sprinkled with salt. It's better known as....bacon fat! I had to save the juices from bacon into a majarine container let it go that white colour and watch my mom spread it on her rye bread. Bleccchhj. I told her it's survivor food. When the poor people had nothing else, they did this and now it's considered a nice food. It's disgusting.

I used to have an old smalt colored bicycle but, at night under the street lights it appeared dark purple.
