My favourite colour! I love this jewel tone...Cobalt! Funny, add a Z at the end and you have Smaltz. That is a German word for a food they spread on rye bread, sprinkled with salt. It's better known as....bacon fat! I had to save the juices from bacon into a majarine container let it go that white colour and watch my mom spread it on her rye bread. Bleccchhj. I told her it's survivor food. When the poor people had nothing else, they did this and now it's considered a nice food. It's disgusting.
Elizabeth, It was a new one for me too;) EC, I wasn't familiar with it either, but I like it;) Birgit, Thanks for sharing smaltz. I like the word cobalt too. Denise, Isn't it a great word?:)
Andrew, Best left unused. Heh. Duta, Good job! Jamie, I didn't either. Val, I hadn't either;) Hugs received and returned. Christine, Yes:) Adam, It's an unusual word.

This is one I'm going to have to look up. I have no idea because I've never even seen the word before.
I had to look it up too. Glorious colour, but not a word I use.
I too had to check. Blue glass, and if no one knows what smalt means, maybe it is word best left unused.
A blue pigment used in painting.
Never knew what this meant.

I used to have an old smalt colored bicycle but, at night under the street lights it appeared dark purple.
