I think I prefer umbrella or brolly to bumbershoot - a word I did not know.

Brolly for me. I hadn't heard of bumbershoot. It sounds a little rude to me, probably because it begins with bum.

Hi Sandra - I was going to say 'brollies ahoy!' ... but I had not realised bumbershoot meant umbrella - live and learn I guess! Cheers Hilary

I did not know this word until now. To me, those things have always been umbrellas.

I hadn't heard this word before. My books rarely involve umbrellas of any sort, but if they did, I'd probably stick with that ordinary word. This is a fun on though (makes me wonder about the origin.) Thanks for the fun, Sandra. :-)

It sounds like a game you'd play:) Never heard of it used as an umbrella before. Xo

I've heard of bumbershoot before, but I'd probably say I opened my umbrella--a boring and pedestrian form of what you said.

Love,
Janie

Is it an umbrella? I immediately thought it might be a plant GT would grow in his vegetable garden....

Now that's quite the word for umbrella. I can't help but recall when Princess Diana and Sarah took their umbrellas to bumbleshoot the guys in front of them
They kept pooling their bumbles. I know..bad of me

Denise, It does, for sure. xo
