Ketch-Up Day

How are you?

As you can see, it's another 'not-much-going-on-here week.'

It rained all day Saturday. It makes the flowers happy so I don't complain...until I have to mow:)

My amaryllis:

The HH gave me a grapevine for an early Mother's Day. It was bare roots, which I'm not a huge fan of. But this guy seems to be doing well.

Last year he gave me a blackberry bush.

Do you have blackberry bushes or grapevines?

AND

May calendar pics.

AND

From California

Thanks, Denise

That's all for today.

I used to find bare rooted plants established themselves better than plants in a pot.
The last photo, Sunny California? Non?

I am with Andrew about bare rooted plants. They need attention quite quickly though.

Hi Sandra - yesterday it bucketed ... horrible - but this week looks hopeful. Bare roots are odd aren't they - my brother has a grape vine, but as families we've always had blackberries - mostly wild! They are delicious ... your garden will enjoy the rain. Enjoy - and thanks for the update ... I'm hoping this weather is warming up this week - cheers Hilary

Bare roots do seem to establish themselves quickly. We have none in our garden and I think if you live in Florida they may be banned since “bare” has a sexual connotation and you can’t talk about things like that!!!

It rained Sunday here and I could swear I heard my grass growing.

Looks like you might get some blackberries this year. I planted one blackberry and one raspberry several years ago and they have each taken over their areas. I end up giving away a lot of blackberries every year.

Sunday was our day of rain. My big event was starting to spring clean the kitchen. I have to do it in stages so it will take me a few Saturdays to get it done. I l9ve your plants! You have a green thumb just like my hubby. Our cherry tree is on full bloom and we have these really pretty blue flowers. I can't remember their name though.

We don't have a grapevine. Please, don't give Himself any more ideas! We have wild raspberry bushes. I don't pick any of the berries, but leave them for the birds and animals to enjoy. The Eldest gave Himself 2 blueberry bushes (apparently this variety needs a male and female) I don't know how they are doing.

Andrew, Glad you had better luck than I. I swear most of them were dead when I got them:) Yup, the sun was slipping in California;)
EC, You and Andrew obviously have had more success with roots than I. I'm a pot girl:)
Hils, I hear ya on the rain. Thunder boomed like crazy last night. Shaking the house. I hope this week is filled with pleasant weather for you.
David, Snort. That's hilarious.
Hi Donna, I love them too. I was pleased they decided to grow in NC's clay soil:) I thought Denise's photo was pretty too:) Hugs received and returned.

Beautiful flowers,Sandra, and I hope you get lots of grapes, too. Blackberries grow wild here and have to be cleared for fire danger. We never got any of the berries anyways, the birds and bears got to them first ... lol Thanks for sharing the calendar and snowy Saturday. Looks like a nice sunny week here. Hugs xo

Your flowers are just splendid. Oh, isn't it nice to see spring again? Alas, no grapevines or berry bushes. Enjoy the fruits!

It's raining here right now, which is good for my newly planted vegetable garden. I'm going to start buying my flowers this week but will wait a bit to put them in case of a random frost.

Alex, I mowed the backyard this afternoon:)
Di, Good to know about the blackberry bushes. Your plants florish.
Birgit, I bet that cherry tree is beautiful. I wonder what your blue flowers are. Phlox?
Christine, Glad you like it:)
Thanks, Jamie:)
CJ, Sh, we won't tell Himself:) I did not know that about blueberry bushes.

Thanks, Denise. Guess no blackberry pie, if I ever make it to CA. Heh.
Greetings to you, Rue:)
Thanks, Jeanie. Today I saw my first little green berry on the blackberry bush:) Yay.
Natalie, Yeah, the plants do love the rain. I just finished mowing and it started raining again. Sigh.
Thanks, Val. Hugs received and returned.
